blockades in support of first nations wet' suwet' Indigenous group are slowly shutting down canada's economy. They can't deliver the propane and shelves running low

They're not budging

This is not a protest action. That’s not a slight, Greg. But words like that have meaning and I don’t know that it’s possible to “protest” in your own house. It is an occupation by the Wetsuweten (they live there) and continued genocidal invasion of a first nation by the BC govt.

The Wetsuweten land has been occupied by them since time immemorial. This traditional territory is unceded (never given or sold by treaty), and this has been upheld by the United Nations court. Google UNDRIP. These are people of a recognized and sovereign indigenous nation who are being forcibly removed from their own land at gunpoint, and contrary to what the media tells you they haven’t signed contracts to give it away to CGL. The hereditary chiefs say absolutely no pipeline through this territory. The RCMP says they have to go or else. The Unistoten want to solve this peacefully. I don’t know if that is possible. What little media coverage you are seeing is despite an “exclusionary zone”. RCMP have basically cordoned off the entire 22,000-odd square Km nation, keeping media, Wetsuweten citizens, and legal observers out of this territory.

The positions are basically as follows:

Unistoten - no pipelines on our sovereign territory, period.

BC govt - how, together, can we make you feel better about us sticking this frack pipe up your ass?

this is genocide continued.

For more context, google Gustafson lake and the Oka crisis.

Land title and environmental issues aside, much of what this has to do with is regarding the kidnapping and murder of indigenous women in the vicinity of pipeline activities. Native women are ten times more likely to go missing, be raped, sometimes also tortured, and killed at TEN TIMES the rate of white women. Missing and murdered indigenous women in the U.S. and Canada number into the thousands. Most all of these cases will never be solved. When a thousand or so unaccountable drunk hard dicks come riding in on machinery to make camp and carve up the territory, most reading this would be shocked to learn that some of them also like to kill women for sport in their spare time.

And nobody seems to care except the communities who actually have to go searching for their mutilated relatives along the highways in spring when the snow melts. Serious about that. This issue clearly represents the intersection of human rights vs industry.

is prince harry going to save them or what?

and yes bss, have heard reports of indigenous women that you mentioned above. its a problem across n america....well i'm sure all the americas...horrible

Im just talking about the protests in general.  I know in Vancouver and Ottowa , for e.g. people have gathered  outside government buildings in support of wet' suwet'an  people to protest the RCMP and their arrests and attemptd to remove the blockades. I think today is day 6 that rails havent been running. SSupplies cut off. Shits getting real.

I certainly wasn't suggesting the wet'suwet'an people were protesting Canada if that's what you thought.

No, not at all man. Most people (myself incl.) think of a protest as something folks travel to or for. Yeah that’s all going down across Canada.

I’m saying the biggest difference here is natives are actually physically being removed from their homes so a pipe can come thru

This is a train brake locked with handcuffs.

Well people are traveling to Ottowa and B .C. to gather and protest for sure. Just saying.  They are catching fire across Canada and gaining support especially with those also concerned about the climate...but the railways are also shut down nationwide as well and it's winter the people farmers etc need supplies and propane.

They are saying it will take 3days to get the trains back online once they come to an agreement (not likely ) and it's been 6 days already. So it's coming to a head and somethings gotta give.  it seems

I just misunderstood you Greg. What’s happening on the territory (CGL eviction & the RCMP raids) are what I was talking about, so I’m sorry for the confusion. It is being painted as a protest but it’s just people who live there. It’s pretty amazing what’s happening in the rest of Canada in support right now. I wonder if there are Canadian zoners?

Cool beans mice :)

I'm like a couple hundred yards from Canada literally , so Ive been getting a couple Canadian channels for free and ive been watching canadian news for like 5 years basically since I got rid of cable.   it's all over the news right now.

I kinda think the media just stokes the fires of both sides the way they report. ..almost to get people more in an uproar ...jut to create news..for ratings. .or basically pitting both sides because they stand to make more money of it that way.

Thanks for the head's up, G-reg.

Yes, when there is so much to do and so little time, it's nice to have an important issue boiled down the key points with no work on my part! Very much appreciate sharing of this info.
