Response to Ras:  Death Penalty violates the ten commandments.  I was brought up Christian, and so I ask who Jesus would kill?   As for telling people what to do, I prefer not to - unless something important is at stake - thus I have no opinion on transgenders and sports.  Sports should be fun, not important. 

I've often in the past stated that I'm probably the most conservative zoner, but to my mind that means making sure all Americans have the opportunity to participate in economic success, so that you don't end up with a revolution.

Second, a bank deposit guarantee program. Third, agriculture subsidies and an allotment program. Fourth, a federally guaranteed farm mortgage program.

His final point was probably the most sensational for the time, as it would be even today: Cancel the World War I allies' war debt, close the gold desk of the Federal Reserve, provide for a more equitable distribution of wealth, enact a high income and inheritance tax, provide a national child labor law, minimum wage, unemployment insurance and old age pension laws. Establish a national economic planning board.

All this from a successful capitalist? A banker/industrialist? A Mormon? A Republican? Not many senators dozed through his testimony.

Eccles must have made his points, though, as several months later he was invited to join the Roosevelt administration as an assistant Treasury secretary. Within months, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt asked Eccles to become a governor of the Federal Reserve Board, to which he replied, "I would Not! … unless fundamental changes are made in the (Fed)."

With FDR's blessing, Eccles rewrote the 1935 Federal Reserve Act, created the Fed as we know it today, and became the first chairman of the reorganized Federal Reserve Board.

His New Deal policies were radical for the time. He was espousing Keynesian economics before Keynes. He was for a balanced budget, but it had to include a balanced economy.

To Eccles, this meant that you built surpluses during the good times to pay for deficit spending in the bad times.

What would today's Great Recession be without the policies put in place some 70 years ago by New Dealers like Marriner Eccles, including Social Security, unemployment insurance, the FDIC, Fed monetary policies, etc.?

The best is our government's relationship with the Abenaki. They simply don't recognize the tribe. There's evidently a treaty, housed in Quebec somewhere that gives all the land in Vermont to the tribe. If they recognized the tribe, the treaty would have to be honored.

Without a doubt, the US has shat upon Indian treaty rights for centuries, but there have been many instances in the last century where the courts have enforced treaty rights.  See, e.g., New Mexico v. Mescalaro Apache Tribe, 462 US 324 (1983) (treaty rights prevented state from attempting to regulate hunting and fishing on tribal lands); Washington v. Wash. State Commercial Passenger Fishing Vessel Assoc., 443 US 658 (1979) (enforcing tribes treaty rights to fish in "usual and accustomed grounds and stations" outside reservation lands); United States v. Adair, 733 F.2d 1394 (9th Cir. 1983) (enforcing Klamath tribe's treaty rights for priority use of water).   That is why if you drive out I-84 near the Dalles, you will see Warm Springs folks fishing in places and with equipment that is off limits to white people even though its off the reservation.  But it has been a mixed bag and while the treaty rights have been interpreted to prevent state interference, the federal government still maintains plenary power in Indian Country.   Much better than the Trail of Tears days, but a lot of work still needs to be done.

im not an expert in sports or gender, nor am i part of any sport or the LGBT community, so i dont think its really my place to say "this is how it is"or "this is how it should be", nor do i think my coming out with some kind of for-against/pro-anti type position holds any relevance or significance for anybody.

what im saying is that its a complicated issue that not only involves gender identity and inclusiveness, but also human biology, safety, and equality for the cisgender women that may be competing against someone with the strength, bone structure and muscle mass of a biological male.

Low income medicaid recipients get treated worse than those that buy into ACA( the doctors are paid less to treat you). you're also subjected to a mandatory piss test...if you piss positive then you're actively committing insurance fraud (If you lied on your application stating that you don't use narcotics)and if you're found guilty then you're banned from government benefits. ..for life. That includes food benefits.  you're better off admitting use and going to rehab. But then you have that on your official record For life.iit's like a bankruptcy,  kinda.
