Steve Gunn / William Tyler :: 4-nite residency, Union Pool (Brooklyn) :: Caution: Music Content

Forums:

We are on Nite 3 and the FOMO is strong.

First nite (which was an add-on) featured extended jams with Yo La Tengo and Garcia Peoples.

Last nite was intimate singer/songwriter jams.

Who knows what tonite may bring?

any NYC Zoners not in attendance for ANY of these shows from this unusual run – damn, i feel bad for you, son.

Wish I could provide some ground reports.

Maybe some quiet voice, some brave soul, might.  Get hip, people.

#CosmicCountry/thread

bump for Steve Gunn / Will Tyler and friends

I think I'd like it.

Honestly turtle, the number of cosmic / sonic universes these good people charted this past week, youd probably find yourself impressed with most, brought to ecstatic highs by some, perplexed or maybe even upset at a bit of it and titilated by all of it.

Great musicians doing a bevy of different things from nite to nite, set to set.

Apparently the last full set of the nite was some kind of impromptu (but apparently practiced / well-versed) lineup featuring 2/3 of Dinosaur jr., doing Stooges covers.

Also along the way was a sort of new-agey/devotional/tribute compositions with reeds/woodwinds and other soft, lilting airy instruments.

Still getting bits and pieces of scattered info from the twitterverse over here. These sets have tended to yield (commercial) recordings; I known for sure a well-respected ‘NYC Taper’ was in attendance for the last nite, so, hoping to get some beta there.

Sweet thoughts, bruh.

Thanks, I followed.

gravy, do you have a musical critique or something constructive to say?

this thread is a music thread.

I started my own music thread. Steve Gunn is a'ight. I think ateix is fluffing a bit. But that's cool, I did that in my music thread, too.

But, yeah, ateix can keep having his solo conversation or whatever in peace...

Thanks, Gramps Turtz. Do you like Steve Gunn? Have you seen him? Do you listen to a lot of Matador Records? Where you stand on Kurt Vile? Me, I'm pretty down with most of that stuff.

MUSIC! VIVA! YAHOO!

Phenomenal artist.

This is an epic run from all reports.

Love it.

Steve has that sublime slow burn. So infectious.

Turtle - check out the song Tommy’s Congo from Steve Gunn’s album Way Out Weather below. You will not be disappointed.

While you’re there at YouTube - search for and listen to Gunn’s song Vagabond. I think you would really like that song too.

thanks 6.

Sure sure, the singer-songwriter Steve gunn stuff is awesome.

But if you’re really feeling adventurous smoke some DMT and listen to anything of the gunn-truscinski duo.

You will thank me later.

If it’s a contest - you can win if it matters that much to you

Enjoying his music is fine for me

You’re welcome, 6.

i like gunn's kinda african rhythmatic  style of playing.
