London calling released 40 yrs ago this month.

Not a big fan of BAD, but they are the only ones that I have seen live.

close it was December 1979 officially even though it often gets listed as one of the best albums of the 1980's. Understandable.

There's a bunch of documentary video shorts on each clash album called "Audio Ammunition", here's the one about London Calling: https://youtu.be/bSWEF7E_CRA

There's one for each Clash album, good watch if you're a fan.

They're really good in a playlist but they get old.

Fortunately I don't give a shit about your opinion, musical or otherwise. Your dislike actually reinforces my love for this band.

Here's a great complete live Clash show from the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ

https://youtu.be/CLKl6FIBH0U

Spotify has a great multi-part podcast called "Stay Free: Story Of The Clash", hosted by Chuck D of public enemy. It's well done, Chuck is a great host and voice.

We used to have some great Clash/ Strummer talks with Duke around the OG zone.

Moderates love The Clash.

Drop your bombs between the minarets
Down the Casbah way"

Possibly the single most ridiculous Zone post ever.

Moderate zoners like The Clash.

Scuze, its - Shareef don't like it - my man

What kind of zoner likes Big Audio Dynamite (asking for a friend)?

Bucky, and I'm kind'a surprised he didn't check in on the LSD discussion, cuz with thread descriptions like this one,

he waaaaaaaaaaaaay over dosed

Johnny, I don't dislike BAD, just not a big fan. I liked them well enough to see them live.

>>>>What kind of zoner likes Big Audio Dynamite

this kind. I enjoy Mick's foray into the 1980's world of dance and hip hop. It may not stand the test of time like the Clash's and The Mescalero's work, but I dig it. And so does Matt Dillon.

my opinion here is not unique, I completely understand that many Deadheads won't enjoy the Clash as they started out as a band in a movement that despised everything that bands like the Grateful Dead stood for. Musical and chemical excess.

thing is while the punk movement of the late 70's quickly burned out, the clash moved fluidly from punk, to rock and roll, to world beat to hip hop in a matter of five years which I'm sure is a bit jarring to your average acid-eating, Jerry-worshipping dead head. I completely understand why many of you would get frustrated by a band with such a varied and rich catalog of music.

Love BAD. Seen them a bunch of times and still listen to them

"We don't deserve their brilliance."

Speak for yourself.

I was too young and square to listen to the likes of London Calling when it was still fresh.

Didn't get much real time exposure until Combat Rock and the BAD albums.
