Wonder if all the US, British
Wonder if all the US, British, and Russian soldiers who have spent time over there indulged in the hashish? They piss test for that shit in the modern Army but I am sure there are guys who still work around that and get high. Did any Zoners spend time in Afghanistan or otherwise know whether folks going there serving NGOs or Uncle Sam are finding the sick hash?
And where did all the hash over here go? You used to be able to find chunks here and there, and with broad legalization, I thought we would see more readily available bricks of hash, but instead its all flower, tinctures, oils, potions, edibles, and shatter, not the old fashion chunks of hashish (at least from what I see).
Knife hits on a stove top? Haven't done that in a long time, but got you high, high.

1: Nepalese temple balls - winner winner chicken dinner - hand rolled dark blackish - 16 grams lasted me like 8 months or more - Yes, I did have several rotational cannabis 15- -20 products in my jewelry case ( and in a file box hidden for bike rides on old la honda road)
2: Afgani Primo - almost black - looked like mud
3: Kabul
4: African - rumored to be produced by running naked through the fields and scraping resin off your body ( brought in by a diplomat working in Africa )
5: Moroccan - pressed light brown - almost chalky not as strong
Colombian gold one of my favorite buds
I recall my rankings as:
1 Michoacan

Timely post.
Timely post.
I was just going to post a thread wondering why medicinal "brick" hash cost so much nowadays?
Local (medical) dispensary has "Gold Hash" like we used ot get in early /mid 70s. It's today's version of standard Lebanese Gold -- i.e., pressed kief.
A company called 1937 is the manufacturer.
It's tasty and all, except it's priced like coke --- 100 / gram (tax included). Yikes!
High school retail price was $25 a quarter - sell 5 grams at $5 a piece and keep two for your head.
I'm guessing it might take a little more work than other concentrates (it just doesn't come dripping out of a machine), but c'mon -- that's surely excessive.

alan R - you are getting
alan R - you are getting ripped off! average pressed hash should be no more than $30 a gram.
100$ per gram is generally reserved for stuff like fresh frozen rosin - where full buds, like full sized buds that could be dried and sold, are not dried, and frozen while fresh. you make ice water hash with the frozen materials in a temp controled room or space. then you collect the hash, and press it into rosin, usually at a very low temp. this process takes more labor and more infrastructure cost than pressed keif, and the yields are much lower. less agitation is used when washing for hash, so a higher quality is achieved, so yield is lower there, then the yeld lowers again when you press it into rosin.
to make pressed keif you only need one person, ice, and some bubble bags. to get it "just dripping out of a machine" you need a couple people at least, and thousands, if not tens of thousands in setup/infrastructure/maintenance costs.
do you have any other dispensaries nearby? $100 per gram for pressed keif is a sure sign that a dispensary is not honest.

Thanks Larry,
Thanks Larry,
Rest assured I'm fully aware of proper pricing and past and present manufacturing techniques for all the old school options.
(I might or might not be very familar with the Redway > Bay area agracultural transport and distribution biz 35 - 15 years ago, when 101 was a tricky ride and CAMP was a persistent threat.)
In general, Maryland has quality product in it's medical dispensaries. It's very regulated. Most of it matches nationwide med pricing (eights 25 - 60 with average prices falling and % rising over the past couple years). Mostly cheaper than comaprible CA legal. Though I was in the Mission in Dec (STIIIZY?) and the Holiday deals were pretty good.
We've got everything but food products (we do have gummies, pills, and capsules), but finding old style pressed gold/blond hash is very rare.
Seems like it would be a good Boomer product.
This particular brand, 1937, is currently only available in MD and Pennsylvania, but the mother company is a large Arizona-based conglomerate.
That's why I was asking what could possibly make simple "Lebanese-style" hash so expensive. I couldn't believe it.
I must say, I had to try it (yeah, redeemable points!) and it was pretty good. But I'll pass for now.
Now go take a dozen 10 strips kid and get off my fuckin lawn (shakes fist)! Kidding - always enjoy your posts.

Talking about hash, I love
Talking about hash, I love this Strainhunters Moroccan expedition, starting at minute 39 you can see big chunks of pollen being turned into little hash bricks from an old fashioned press. Would love to find something like this in a shop, but it's rare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipYPLTArkcU

On a somewhat related note,
On a somewhat related note, "An ancient Himalayan village known for India’s best hash is now off limits for tourists":
https://qz.com/india/1026188/malana-an-ancient-himalayan-village-known-f...
"An isolated village nestled in the Himalayas, Malana is popular for Malana Cream, a strain of cannabis with a high oil content and intense aroma. Over the decades, this village of over 4,700 residents had emerged as a much sought-after destination among tourists thanks to its premium quality hashish.
Malana Cream is among the most expensive hashish on the famed cannabis menus of Amsterdam. A tola, or 11.66 grams, sells for over $250 there and over Rs4,000 ($60) in India."

It ain't pollen. Cannabis pollen has very little THC.
