Rudy Giuliani Associate Ready To Comply With Impeachment Probe, Lawyer Says
Lev Parnas, the Ukranian-American businessman who helped Giuliani look for information on Joe Biden, would be a critical witness in the impeachment inquiry should he testify.
the right loves claiming the left is about to incite a civil war, but i never hear anyone seriously discussing a civil war except the far right. alex jones talks about it almost every day, which is all i need to hear to convince me its not even a remote possibility.
but lol dan...bring it? see you in the streets? you would be in your house with the rest of us. if there is a violent civil war in volving the general population, the far right wins, no question. unless nancy has a secret safe full of AR15's behind her hillary posters.
is a civil war between competing ideologies even possible today? during the civil war era, we did not have a fully operational full time army like we have today, so both sides were able to raise up armies that could compete against each other. how would that even work today? its doubtful the armed forces would take a side and if they did, there would be no contest. in a scenario where they dont take sides, american military forces could probably squash any kind of battles or fighting between ragtag militias. would it be relegated to sporadic terrorist attacks at political events, rallies, and in cities associated with specific ideologies? im not sure that a civil war would eve be realistically possible regardless of how much support on either side there is for the idea.
any zoners with a longer view of 20th century american politics than myself remember if there have been any other times in living memory opposing sides of various mainline ideological debates started throwing around the term "civil war"?
Before this tweet, the Oath Keepers account tweeted that, under the U.S. Constitution, “the militia (that’s us) can be called forth ‘to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions.’ ... “All he has to do is call us up. We WILL answer the call.” Other Oath Keeper tweets also hint at violence: One states that “their favorite rifle is the AR 15.”
During the "Sugarpine" mine snafu in SW Oregon, we took the oathkeepers mining. Had them cut ore underground, mill it, pan out the goods... sort of akin to taking the skinheads bowling, lol. One guy was mid level FBI, another a former marine, and a sheriffs secretary for over 20 years. Not the right wing reactionaries we were expecting, but close enough... I'm sure they all voted for Trump
That was the bumbling Bundy's, bunch of idiots from NV... but they actually disagree w/ Trump on his wall (a bit surprising). They got popped for overstaying the BLM 14 day camping limit out at that Oregon rest stop, lol, the media kind of blew it all out of proportion, but so it goes. I found it interesting how many funny memes went up instantaneously w/ that little stunt. While I don't support the Bundy's, I was very disappointed that the left never addressed any of the issues in the earlier NV fiasco, just demonizing the nut jobs that went out there to play soldier and mostly watch and drink beer, lol. So here's a few pages from a FOIA (freedom of information act) on that for off topic shits and giggles, but not surprising for anyone who has to work w/ the BLM.... try not and laugh too hard, it's an entertaining read, LOL
Way familiar with the Bundy's, Druba. Went down to Vegas to confront them at their trial.
Too bad Mr. Love screwed up, as did the federal prosecutors. While it's unfortunate these yahoos got off, it's more important that U.S. citizen's rights were protected by the judiciary.
Amazingly, the leaders of the Bundy gang beat the charges arising from their armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. There were two trials, the first one was for the leaders and the second one was for the followers. Problem was that the prosecutors went straight for the juggler on the leaders, charging them with the most serious felonies but overlooked the more mundane, albeit easy to proof, crimes such as trespassing and destruction of government property. They couldn't get a conviction on the serious offenses and because the prosecutors neglected to include the minor crimes, the Bundy boys walked.
The prosecutors didn't make the same mistake with the followers, and most ended up pleading or were otherwise convicted of various minor crimes and served 1 - 2 year sentences.
Interesting memo Druba. Something tells me that the BLM agent who wrote it is LDS.
There's 17 pages w/ that memo, gets into more legal detail as it goes. And I disagree w/ your assessment on the Malheur "armed occupation". The only real crime they committed was breaking the 14 day camping limit. It wasn't an armed takeover since it's legal to carry side arms in Oregon (and it's not really accurate to call it an armed occupation when there was nobody out there to "pull a gun on", lol). The rifles were from the informant, and a lot of the other crimes out there were just hearsay that never happened, why it was easy to throw out the charges. Again, I don't support the Bundy's, at all, but I do support the real story over the embellishments, and sadly, this was a case where the left got a little too propaganda based vs what really happened... doesn't happen that often, but it did in this case. What's curious to me, is why the numb nut bundy's warranted national press, when the BLM actions against them happened to multiple ranchers, but they were law abiding citizens (payed grazing fees, etc), yet none of those cases ever made the headlines. The FOIA's showed the BLM and certain politicians used the endangered species act to manipulate land for personal benefit, and appointed a few BLM positions as thank yous. Kind of akin to land withdrawals for environmental reasons having clauses in them that allow for foreign leasing for energy and mining (solar farms anyone?). But I regress...
>>>>The only real crime they committed was breaking the 14 day camping limit.
They also openly vandalized government property, stealing cameras and computers, cutting barbed wire, using "borrowed" heavy equipment to dig trenches, and generally trashing the place. This was done openly in front of the national media, so its hard to refute. They also damaged tribal artifacts and burial sites. Those are some the types of minor crimes the lower level participants were convicted of committing.
Next time I am out that way, I do want to stop at the site along US 395 between Burns and John Day where LaVoy Finicum made his last stand. I am sure the anti-government types have erected some sort of monument there.
Ken - That would be a perfect spot to take a long leak - or worse.
I believe the prosecutors holding back evidence they were supposed to turn over in a timely fashion was a major cause of the unsuccessful prosecution in Vegas, which was about the armed standoff when the BLM tried to confiscate their cows. I guess the gov'mt appealed in February. No idea how that turned out.
From the LV Review Journal - U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro threw out the case against Bundy, his sons Ammon and Ryan, and independent militia member Ryan Payne after finding “flagrant prosecutorial misconduct.”

The Klan hasn't been a serious threat to anything for decades, but they sure provide good press when needed.
