is this the final nail in the coffin for the yearly JRAD fox run? if they are announcing 2020 shows already i guess theres not much chance of a late announcement for early-mid december shows.
bummer. frost was great but did not live up to the bar they have set and continue to raise almost every year for their fox blowouts...they seem to always go all in and put a lil extra special sauce down whenever they come to the fox, ill be missing it this year. deadco NYE is not a suitable consolation prize.

They’re a furthur cover band, only with even worse singing and way too much guitar obnoxiousness.

Not a fan of Jazz music, eh? different take on music?
JRAD is one of my favorite bands, because they don’t sound like a cover band. love their styling.
There is no right or wrong about musical opinions, sorry this band doesn’t grab you.

One has pretty decent harmonies, the other has a killer rhythm section and free posters. Both probably worth the better part of a twenty spot on a weeknight.

that's my point, Slacker. if
that's my point, Slacker. if to your ears Tom Hamilton sounds anything remotely like the chipmunks then you're entitled to your opinion. I'm not going to say it's wrong, although I would ask that you provide a link to what you consider Tom Hamilton, or "T-Ham" as you say, sounding like the chipmunks, just for my own curiosity. And if you or anyone else doesn't enjoy the music JRAD is making, again that's your opinion. I do think you're missing out on some excellent music though.
Now, speaking of chipmunks there is one group of women singers that to my ears sound that bad. Even worse when T-McNamee is leading the band. Even if there are some of my favorite musicians in the band, it's just doesn't sound good to my ears. To each her own, and if you think I'm missing out by passing up on T-Sisters with MoonAlice, I got no problem with that either. And yeah, I know I'm missing out on a free poster. I can live with that.

I disagree, and prefer JRAD "harmonies" to 3 part saccharine. I need bass in my harmonies.
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of women back up singers and lead vocalists that are music to my ears. I can pass on the sugar pop sounds.

talking about singing in a
talking about singing in a conversation about JRAD is missing the point.
if inventive psychedelic improvisation is not the absolute #1 thing you want from GD music, JRAD is probably not going to be one of your favorite bands.
if a big priority for you is hearing the songs themselves, flow of songs in a setlist, variety of their songbook, and singing in general, you will probably find something missing from the JRAD experience
if you are not sick and tired of the GD post jerry "schtick" and "the scene" and "the community" and "the lot", you will again probably find something missing from JRAd shows.

Missing the point? Singing is
Missing the point? They do sing, right? Singing is as much a part of this music as improvisation has ever been. When you sing Grateful Dead songs in the shower, or in the car, or on the rail, or wherever; do you sing the words or the heady instrumental solos?
These songs are stories, the singer is the storyteller. This part is required, and comes before musical exploration can happen. The psychedelic improv part is to support and enhance the story.
Never been a scenester, so I don’t care much about all of that.
