Neil Rosenberg, who wrote one
Neil Rosenberg, who wrote one of first and most definitive histories of bluegrass, considered Jerry one of the best and most promising banjo players on the west coast and was disappointed when Jerry left bluegrass for rock and roll.
Old & In the Way is great stuff, but if you really want to hear Jerry at his best on banjo you need to get the "Before the Dead" box set.
