Ever stop at Mystic Hot Springs in your travels, slick? I’ve been curious about checking it out for many years now. Seems they have decent music bookings from time to time, but I guess you could say due to cultural differences I’ve been fairly hesitant to explore the inner reaches of the beehive state again. What’s the skinny?
Mystic hot springs is great. Went there a handful of times in the early 2000s when I lived in Utah. At the time they had an outdoor stage and an indoor stage (in Mikes living room). I saw Leftover Salmon there one time, it was a blast. That was the largest show I saw there might have been 150+ people camping out on site. I have seen a few singer songwriter types there also where the crowd is less than 50 people. It is in the middle of nowhere. We sat in the tubs on the hillside and watched a thunderstorm close in on us. Pictures and video could not do it justice.
I have not been there in 15+ years. It could be a lot different these days. If Mike still owns it, it is probably very unique still. I think he did video for the GD in the stadium tour days.
No, I haven't been there. I have heard about it and heard once they even had the Stringdusters there. But I can't say I'm sure of how it is now.
I believe I heard years ago of some health issues with the place, but if it's still going, which it is, I guess they've been addressed if they did have some. Not sure, you know how rumors can be. Especially when southern Utah locals want to trash a successful business run by ACK! - HIPPIES and the ne're-do-wells they attract!
Seems like they're booking less prominent acts there if you look at the schedule.
It is a real beer, LCL. It's a big hit with the touristos, and especially during the Olympics in 2002. Sold lots of shirts. I have one myself. Earlier edition.
Just saw they have "I'll share my man, but not my beer" shirts for ladies.
Klondike posted a pic of St Provo Girl. Now remember Provo is where the church-owned and operated Brigham Young University is. To quote Chevy Chase in Fletch, "Who wants to go to Provo?"
And we still ask that. St Pauli Girl didn't appreciate the rip off and the ads on the billboards on the freeway had to come down.
BTW, the heathen, liberal Utah Utes just kicked BYU's ass in the "Holy War" last night in their home stadium in Provo. A rivalry of over 100 years. An in-state rivalry like no other with religion in the mix.
Since the Utes joined the PAC-12 (picked to win it this year), rivalry week doesn't come on the last game of the season like others.
You didn't, ya dog. But I don't fault you one bit. Sounds like a great move for ya. Air won't be worth a shit here soon. I may get out in a couple, who knows?

Thank you Slickrock and Klondike. Classic stuff there. I'm surprised a state like Utah lets that slide.
(good call on the Fletch references).
