to college, good luck, hope the empty nest syndrome doesn't hit you too hard if you only have one. i expect to be prying my wife out of the dorm on monday
Just found out yesterday that my son got multiple job offers from big New York City law firms for a summer associate position next year, which usually leads to a full time job once he graduates law school and passes the bar. He will be making more money as a summer associate than I am making as a 19-year attorney in Portland. That is a good feeling and its like your job as a parent is complete. Now I can relax and really enjoy the empty nest time.
No shit. That's where he got one of his offers and its his first choice for NYC. He is still waiting to see if he gets a "comparable" offer from a DC firm, but assuming that doesn't happen (and its hard to beat Proskaur's pay scale). he will go with them. He likes securities regulation stuff, but is leaning towards general business litigation.
how funny, she is head of, not sure what the "real" term is but she deals with benefits etc at companies . She is a friend but we don't discuss work only our kids who were very friendly from 2nd thru 6th grade then drifted, my wife and she and husband are still friends while the boys don't speak, it happens
either way nyc or dc maybe we will meet when you visit him, i live in manhattan and my son starts college in dc on the 26th so i'll be down there from time to time
Just got home a little bit ago from getting both of my sons back to college this weekend. They were stoked to be back on campus as they should. :-)
I held my emotions back, but the feeling I have is bittersweet as I do believe they are truly are on their own from here on out. They've reached that stage, and that's a very good thing.
great job getting them resettled. do you remember sending a former zoner a cd by the church? if so and if you still have their email can you reach out to them?
We’ve been empty nesters for 6 years. The kid visited the nest this summer and it was really nice to have him around. just dropped him off at the airport as he returns to his teaching job in Shanghai.
Ken, I've been in securities regulation for the past 19 years, as a regulator for FINRA and CCO of multiple broker dealers. I'm not a lawyer, but have worked with some of the best in the business. If your kid is interested in my perspective, email in profile. Otherwise, might be able to make some introductions to a couple law firms.

Good luck! One nice thing
Good luck! One nice thing about being empty nesters is that we can now travel more, and party like we did pre-kids lol.

Exciting!
My wife and I were married for 10 years before we had our first kid. I'll be nearly 58 years-old when/if the youngest kiddo leaves the house.

Sweet and sour.
Sweet and sour.
I don’t want my “little chickie” to leave the nest.
It’s a scary world out there.
