I use to work around the corner from In-n-out in Pasadena back in the 70's, always a fun place to go to afterwards, double double with onion, fries well done.
Haven't been down there for 35 years, but I did manage to catch the grand opening of the new Grants Pass franchise when heading down to the claims.
I use to work around the corner from In-n-out in Pasadena back in the 70's<<<
I believe that was the third In-N-Out, but not sure if it sits on the old route 66?
I've made it there once when I happened to be in Pasadena, but have an old friend who made a point to check it out as being an "historical landmark" for INO ... he also visited the original site at Baldwin Park.
On a walk a couple of Saturdays ago down by Fisherman's Wharf just for a goof. The line at In n Out was down the block and around the corner. I walked up to North Beach and sat down at the counter in Sam's Burgers on Broadway, where I ordered the "Anthony Bourdain Special" - a double cheese burger, fries, and a bottle of beer (I had Anchor Steam). Man, that was a damn good cheese burger, made in the classic style and way fresher and better than In n Out. $20 tab.

They're good, but not nearly
They're good, but not nearly good enough to justify the wait, especially nowadays when there are so many other quality options.

My son loves it and orders "The Animal" caramelized onions, cheese and secret sauce.
