I went through a phase where I was obsessed with asterism in gemstones, would love to find one myself (which I'd pretty much have to do because they're on the costly side!).
Garnets are fairly common in the right kinds of geology. At the Montana claim, it's from some precambrian gneiss / schist (2.5 billion years old). At the ID claims its from Granodiorite / Limestone skarn. Don't have any at the Oregon Claims, but there's an outcrop with them on Mt Ashland, Coffee Creek / S. Umpqua / Cow Creek in SW OR. Anyplace with granite type rocks and you've got a chance of finding some. I like going to Philipsburg Montana and digging sapphires at Gem Mountain (west of Butte), always a good time!
I love Carnelian and I love Fall Creek. I just didn’t know they went together til you posted about them sometime in the past. I have a very old bracelet of seed pearls and very small carved Carnelian elephants from my first husband‘s grandmother. For some reason I think that the carnelian is from Estonia or somewhere around there. It could be I’m confused because of the garnets she gave me from around there.
You bet Judit, the Cascade foothills are loaded w/ different types of quartz / agate / petrified wood, in the old days you could walk clear cuts and find the hot spots, these days everything is gated up! If you try to find the old favorite places like the "Holley Blue" spot, you'll get arrested!!!
