It sure freaked out the eagles on the eagle cam. Simba about to finally leave the nest. Should be any day. I'm surprised it hasn't happened already.
Mama Jackie just took off when the shaking started last night. "I'm outta here". Simba was quite still for a while...wondering WTH? https://friendsofbigbearvalley.org/eagle/
Hope all the humans are good. We even felt it in Utah. Swaying lights at the TV station in SLC. And stuff was swaying at the NBA summer league in Vegas.
Our daughter was texting us as it hit last night. The earthquake on the 4th was biggest in 20 years and then last night even bigger. These are the first earthquakes she ever experienced having recently moved to LA. She was freaking out a bit since she is on the 16th floor...the elevator shut down.
i have a very vivid memory of DNB at zodiacs playing shake rattle and roll, as per usual i was tripping balls and there was this tiny old skinny lady that looked like a wrinkled lizard whose body was just barley being held together by threads of rotting dental floss and she looks at me and says in this really weak, shakey voice; "shake rattle and roll...its just like the old song"
bitch it is the old song they are playing shake rattle and roll
My daughter in Joshua Tree felt them quite violently. Her house wasn't damaged but her dog was in the back yard & crashed through the kitchen screen door injuring his paw. He wanted the comfort of his humans.
Much love out to Californians and California Zoners and especially to China-Rider’s daughter. 7.1 on a 16th floor will get ya good enough, that’s scary. In Chile 7.1 is when we actually start to kinda look up from what we’re doing and wonder if it’s a really big one, or just a big one. I haven’t read much about how the infrastructure held up in CA but looks lik me no major damages, right?
I felt both of the big earthquakes in Orange County, over 150 miles away, as a rolling sensation. The first one lasted about 20 seconds and the second one about 40 seconds. No damage in my area but lots of swinging blinds and chandeliers and water jumping out of swimming pools. We had plenty of time to get out of the house and stand on the patio (no tall buildings or trees or overhead power lines here) until it passed. It freaked my dog out - she barked at it!
The best tip I heard on the news was to keep a pair of slip on shoes by the bed. The most common injury is supposedly cut feet from walking through broken glass.
I sure hope that when I am at a show and lizard wrinkled by age,and my body is being held together with rotten dental floss, that I use my shakiest voice and say fuck you to everyone
