So glad I was there. That was the best Dead&co set start to finish that I've seen. Rain and hail during CRAS forced a weather delay for about an hour. The band rose to the occasion and played from where they left off and crushed it for two and a half hours. Meyer jumping, Bobby weaving, Oteil dancing and lightning crackling behind the stage. They played with intent. So cool. After all these years the x factor was in full force. I remain. Grateful.

Sounds like a cool show, Stringtwang. Reminiscent of Minneapolis '86 without a set break.
I listened to a little of the Cassidy, but the scope link was choppy, so I turned it off.
Hope you all get a fun tour closer tonight. Guess we'll see what the weather brings.

Yeah, definitely a memorable show with the weather ... will definitely stand out in the memory banks on this front. It was definitely coming down, although was completely unphased while they played the "first set". However, after they made the announcement to delay, I went under cover figuring they knew something ... which is when the deluge really came.
Musically, thought the show was very strong .. really liked the first set, good effort / rendition knowing what was in store with the weather. Also realized that Mayer may have realized that he can "combat" the slow pace of some songs with syncopation.

Oteil's bass solo in Eyes was the highlight of the show for me. The encore was sweet too. The show seemed to have an arc that was higher energy in the first set. It got melancholy with the grand Bobby ballads and then ended with the sweet Ripple and Brokedown. Playin reprise closed the loop and it was over and out. See ya next time.

might be a Mayer selection, he seems fond of the song. I like it too, but agree it should not come out of space and served to push the overall setlist flow to be a bit "lumbering" at times.

I went to Friday shoe and was more impressed with the music than the one I went to last year at Folsom. I saw what Bob is trying to present more clearly, and it resembles his playing approach to the those "Duo" Weir/Lesh shows. Bob was clearly the leader of the band, and was commanding in that role. Bobby was dominant in the mix. Mayer lays back and fills when there's room.
That said, they really would benefit by making Otiel more present in the mix. And, not just letting Mayer cut loose, but encouraging him. The Vista Cruiser was on Cruise Control.
Mayer could also benefit from mixing up his tone. Same sound every song.
Lastly, I like Bob Weir's tunes. Why doesn't he play them? PLENTY of room for a Let it Grow or St of Circumstance or LL Rain or even an Esau.

Nedb, Oteil was way up the mix Saturday.
My expectations were checked after the Camden show two weeks ago. I came to terms with what they are doing after Friday’s show. Stand alone performances, well played, with outstanding psychedelic visuals. For my head they’re a boomer band, leave the cid at the door. Saturday was an enjoyable night out after peaking during the hail storm Friday.
The Kitchen Dwellers burned down the Boulder theater at the much needed after party,

Standing through Days Between
SOTM through Days Between would have been painful. And to think that in the 70's it was Bob who was critical of the "Quaalude Boogy Set".
"the grand Bobby ballads"
They're still Jerry ballads. Have some respect. This is what it has come to.
"And, not just letting Mayer cut loose, but encouraging him"
Bob not only doesn't encourage a lead guitarist to cut loose, I'm convinced that he actively discourages it. That's the post-Jerry difference; no one on lead guitar has the balls (or confidence or ability or whatever) to step and and say "follow me" like Jerry did. And Bob's playing never was, and certainly isn't now, interesting enough on its own to fill that role. He was always strongest in a support role. Herring and Warren are the only two guitarists (and it took both of them, the lineups that only featured one or the other lacked this as well although 2002 Other Ones with Jimmy came close) to take the reins with even a semblance of approaching Garcia's skill at it.
"Oteil is a great bass player but he brings nothing to this band other than vocals."
This. Best vocalist in the band by a wide mile and they limit that contribution as much as possible. And as a player he's much better suited to Col. Bruce than Grateful Dead.
"leave the cid at the door."
Then why even bother? Grateful Dead music that isn't suited for LSD isn't worth the time or effort.
But I will applaud Bob for getting his health back on track. He looks great.

Boulder was a road trip and a
Boulder was a road trip for us and a first ever 2 week vacation. Seeing Dead & Co. in Colorado, sight seeing along the way, visiting with family, what a great summer vacation! The shows were very good, despite the Friday weather, it made for a unique evening, people will be talking about when hail fell at Folsom Field in years to come. Saturday was a well played show, the Ripple > Brokedown Palace acoustic combo was all I could ask for from this band. After the show, upon arriving at our hotel, Boulder City fire and ambulance were there and the guests were blocked from accessing their rooms. We were told someone (a criminal idiot) pepper sprayed the hotel air intake system and they needed to clear the air. Our small 13 lb dog was crated in the room. I got exception access and brought him down. Some people are fuckin imbeciles. I can only imagine what the dog must’ve experienced, fire alarms, burning discomfort. I spoke to the hotel staff in the morning and was told that the idiot had pepper sprayed the halls, not the air intake system, he was on surveillance camera. I hope they catch the MFer. Overall we had a wonderful road trip and other than this one incident, it was a really good vacation.
