DC, which publishes the magazine, told ABC in a statement: "After issue #10 this fall there will no longer be new content - except for the end of year specials which will always be new. So starting with issue #11, the magazine will feature classic, best of and nostalgic content from the last 67 years."
Many people, including singer and comedian "Weird Al" Yankovic, shared their sadness at new content coming to an end.
He said: "I can't begin to describe the impact it had on me as a young kid - it's pretty much the reason I turned out weird. Goodbye to one of the all-time greatest American institutions."

A staple in our house growing up. Too bad, but great memories.
Sometimes in conversation when people express concern about something, I say "What me worry? I read MAD." Get some quizzical looks sometimes.

Well, actually I read them. But my little brother used to literally eat them - at least a time or two.
He couldn't read yet.

The only magazine I've ever
The only magazine I've ever subscribed to.
I loved it because it was relentlessly irreverent.
I loved the little comics in the margins.
I loved the foldup back page.
I haven't looked at one in ages, but I'm sad to hear it's done.
I'm not surprised though, as the modern attention span doesn't allow for anyone to read beyond short-letter abbreviations and three sentence stories.

I'm not surprised though, as
on a totally unrelated note, this is a common sentiment, but id also argue that in many ways there is a sizable percentage of the population whose attention span is actually growing, as the main source of A/V entertainment switches from 1.5-2hr self contained films to massive 10-80hr epic series with more complexity, mystery and symbolism than ever before.
long podcasts like joe rogan's podcast are also becoming incredibly popular...more people listen to joe rogans 3 hour podcast than watch any of the political pundits on any of the major news networks. and on top of that there are countless others, diving deep in specific topics or conversations for 1-3hrs with no commercial breaks or breaks of any kind, and as time goes on this kind of thing is only getting more and more popular.
it seems like attention spans are shrinking, but the forms of entertainment growing the fastest are generally long, in depth, and complex in a way that america has never ever seen before.

You make valid points Daylight, and my statement was simplistic.
What I blithely touched on and you expanded on is a complex thing, but to counter, I give you the leader of the free world.
It truly is a MAD, MAD MAD, MAD world these days, and in that light it's a shame to see such a cool thing like MAD Magazine pass on.
