Sometimes I forget or (more often) lose my reusable bottle when traveling and end up buying a bottle of water. When I do that, I try to reuse the bottle as much as I can until I inevitably set it down somewhere and lose it too.
Here in Chile there's an evil tendency where people give away free newspapers on street corners in the morning. Also, at some gas stations they give you a free paper when you fill up. I hate it. Pretty much everyone accepts, leafs through the crappy paper on the way to work on the bus or metro, and then throws it away. So much trash for nothing. Every single one of those people has a phone with a plan where they could easily just read the paper on line, but no, everyone wants free shit, even if it shit.
So yeah, I say no to free bottled water usually. And no to free newspapers. And no to free flyers and leaflets and stupid shit like that. So much fucking useless trash in the world...
not nanzy at all. “Several” might only actually be two occasions, both outside lined up during the day waiting to get in to a shoe when a Brooklyn Bowl employee walked down the line offering free, plastic, mini-bottles of water.
I kid you not. I accepted them and I realize I am part of the problem. I’m trying to do better.
Yup. I walked by the Chinese restaurant in the mall food court last year and it was a woman standing there with a box of plastic forks giving free samples away- one tiny piece of chicken on a fork. over and over again all day.

If still nans, I give you credit for coming up with a "believable" scenario ... there's no way in hell I see Shappy handing out free water bottles inside!
(but would bet you're telling the truth if forced to bet)

I admit to accepting free bottled water occasionally, but try not to make a habit of it. I almost never purchase bottled water.
At the same time, I do purchase juice that is packaged in either plastic or glass. Is there really a difference in terms of wastefulness vs. water?
