I saw her on seth meyers last night and didnt think she was as bat shit crazy as she is portrayed. I dont support some of her positions, but I must say she was certainly articulate, intelligent, and thoughtful in this interview.
I respect your enthusiasm, but I have some bad news for you. The congressional progressives backing the progressive candidate isn’t going to blow anything up. If you can get some of those mainstream Democrats to endorse Bernie, then it will blow the fuck up.
But alas, you don’t think that you need the mainstream and moderates.
It's just my perspective, I'm somewhat impressed with aspects of Bernie's ideology, but I get the feeling that suddenly as he seems increasingly viable, might he have to reconfigure his stance on a few issues? That is to say, it's easy to say this, that & the other when Hillary is sure to steal the nomination, but now that it seems like he has an honest shot at it, he may go back to the drawing board on a few issues. I'm curious to know people's honest thoughts on socialism. In theory, if a journalist asked him what his honest thoughts on socialism were...what would he say? It's a fair question.
Re: Socialism. The fact that we have social security, and medicare/medicaid, indicates that we have been in a state of "Socialism" for quite a while , are we not?
No, socialism indicates that the government controls the means of production, ie, electricity, water, gas, etc. The fact that there are social policies in place does not mean that it's a socialist country. A social democracy, maybe, but not socialist. At least, that's my understanding of it - I may be wrong.
Extreme as in extremely impossible to pass with Trump and Turtle master blocking any logical ideas, especially anything to do with the environment. If we win back potus and overtake the senate then we might have a chance. I like her ideas, but yea extreme considering the current political makeup of this country at the moment.
I just took a peek at the upcoming 2020 senate seats available. If it goes well we can win back the overwhelming senate majority and i don't see us losing any ground in the house.

Fair enough Andean, so unless i am missing something, are any progressive/democrat candidates advocating for the government to take control of these means of production? if not, then the right's claim that the left wants this country to turn into a socialist state are simply false.
> if not, then the right's claim that the left wants this country to turn into a socialist state are simply false.
yes.
and for some reason the Trump cult have bought the con that protecting Social Security, Medicare and other "social programs" that all Americans agree are actually good things, are now bad things. because.."Socialism". it's the new red scare. of course the reality is that it's only the Trump cultists that are the suckers here, and the majority of Americans aren't as foolish or as scared of said social programs. painting AOC and other progressives/liberals/Democrats as evil Socialists isn't going to have any effect on the way people vote.

The right's claim is totally bogus but it doesn't matter one bit. Politics isn't about truth, it's about soundbites. If you can get the voters to repeat something over and over, then it becomes truth in their minds and will drive the support for your position.

Her platform is similar to Bernie’s - only better. And the way Fox and the right are attacking her, it’s clear she poses a real threat.
