Quilt, comforter, pieced quilt, coverlet. Usually a quilt has layers of fabric and/or padding with stitching holding the layers together.
The AIDS quilts are pieced together from panels commemorating or dedicated to someone who died from AIDS. If you feel like it, Google AIDS quilt or The Names Project for more info with pics.
When I google “AIDS blanket” they look a lot like the picture above. Maybe you can edit my title and remove the “AIDS” part since it seems to be something that has agitated a few people.
Let's just get back to the subject, as you suggest. I have seen some great looking quilts, pillows and skirts made from t-shirts, and covers for couches, too. I think they can be done beautifully.
thanks TOD. I don’t like the sounds of this review AT ALL. if anyone has successfully used a different company please let me know
“In November 2018, I sent this company 49 concert t-shirts that I spent hours trimming down per their instructions and 20+ years collecting as memorabilia for them to create a custom large quilt from them. This morning, I received an email from the company stating "I am sorry to inform you that the package that we received from the **** was marked by them as damaged and we received with no contents, see enclosed picture. Thank you for your support- we really appreciate your business!"
Bucky, find someone local...theres gotta be a "quilting" club near you...its actually quite popular, as i know 2 ppl that are "quilters" , one in Ct. and one in Mass. and theyre always talking quilts and how the last quilting class was etc...put it this way, like most anything else, ppl that are into it, are REALLY into it, and im sure if you put word out locally, you will get referred to someone you can actually meet, sit down with, and explain what you want (and what you DONT want etc)...i think you d be a lot happier going local etc...good luck
Thanks man. Sounds like a good idea. Keep the money local and that way I wouldn’t have to worry so much about stuff getting lost in the mail. I could check craigslist too.
Ill make sure to post a picture here when it’s done
>>>>Relax and consider buying yourself one of those weighted blankets for anxious adults.
oh hey I just call those “blankets”, it’s extremely rude to say they are for “anxious adults” unless the blankets are specifically in an anxious adults rally.
that sounds pretty cool slick. now that I think about it I don’t think I’ve actually seen any in person. it would be cool to see a bunch of different ones and take all of the features I like and incorporate them.
I remember when they were working on our local AIDS quilt, family/friends would make a patch dedicated to their loved ones. Some were funny, some made you cry, all very personal. I had a few friends on there, pretty sad! I'm actually glad Bucky used the term "AIDS" quilt, as I had forgotten a lot of those memories. (and if anyone needs a reason to fight the republicans, their repugnant actions during the plague years was enough to teach anyone how anti-Christian these sick twisted fucks actually are!!!)
Right now i've got a pile of old homebrew and brew pub shirts, i'd bet they'd be perfect for making a drinking quilt, lol
I wasn't criticizing, Bucky, I was trying to understand the use of "AIDS quilt". I think we all get it now. Looking forward to seeing your quilt when it's done.
>>> I didn’t know that AIDS was like the “N” word around here <<<
It's not. And it's something worth thinking about and remembering. If you're old enough to remember the '80s, Reagan and his cohorts, you'll also remember the friends whose lives were lost due to being thought of as expendable immoral "pariahs". That there was no research into HIV, no care, just disregard for humans who had an STD that few knew about. I was working in a very progressive medical office with a gay nurse (who later died of AIDS) who helped educate us. No one was outside our scope of care.
As Noodler said, "and if anyone needs a reason to fight the republicans, their repugnant actions during the plague years was enough to teach anyone how anti-Christian these sick twisted fucks actually are!!!"
I’m sorry about the unfortunate wording of my title Judit. I in know way meant any disrespect and I will refrain from using the terms “AIDS quilt/blanket” going forward.
Let everyone note that Bucky, with his bogus meme and idiotic "AIDS sweater" comment is the one doing the trolling here.

I know knotseau likes golf and his kid which is very admirable. Dave likes two baseball teams from the same league which is definitely NOT admirable and I’m not sure about 4winds at all, maybe he’s friends with Dave or knotseau? Can’t put my finger on it.
Anyway, thanks for coming and thanks to skyjunk for the meme support, it means a lot. I’ll post another one in honor of this thread.
