Headed to Asbury Park...

Forums:

To the Paramount theater. I was wondering if someone could recommend a spot for a quick drink and bite to eat?

Thank you.

There's a little Irish-ish place up near the hotel that was pretty good.  Probably be jammed if there's a show, tho'.

Elvis Costello in NJ?

That show was to start at 7pm; you posted at 6:30pm.

Hope you made it, parked right in front, grabbed a beer & a warm pretzel inside..

Would love hear about the show & night, big-guy

Lumber --

I like "Bond Street"  for basic Bar food & cheap Sierra pints.  Just off Cookman Ave.  "Mogo" on Cookman has Korean Fusion Tacos,  and if you are near either one there are tons of other places.

If you're in Bond St. it is dark and grimy,  but walk through the Magic Tunnel past the restrooms and you're in a much nicer,  well-lit place with more stuff on the menu.  That one actually fronts on Cookman Ave.

Have a Fun show !

Thanks, Bluelight & Stu.

Showtime was 8pm, they started at 8:15.

Fun show...I'm going to bed.

He's funny, I would go if near by and not at Bob Weir Saturday Night

I will be in Asbury Park Sunday Nov 18th to play a Gig at THE SAINT at 300ish with a kick ass band put together of NJ local musicians. They are having a benefit / Memorial for my Cousin who passed on Earlier this summer. Hope to see some folks drop in for this....

IN MEMORY OF BOB COLYARD
Doors 11:00am, $10
(Early Show) The Saint's 24th Anniversary Series of Shows In Memory of and in Celebration of Bob Colyard, A Tribute Show Feat. Val Emmich (3:55) / Rick Colyard (3:10) / Rick Barry (2:50) / UFOTOFU (2:30) / Dentist (2:10) / Kenny "Stringbean" Sorensen Duo (1:50) / Amanda Duncan (1:30) / George Wirth (1:10) / Lou Montasano (12:50) / Secret Guest (12:30) / The Sunday Blues / Divine Sign (12:10) / Joe Harvard (11:50) / Tara Dente (11:30) / Joshua Van Ness (11:10) and a few more acts TBA. Proceeds will be donated to Musician On A Mission.

Bob Colyard was a music fan. I'm talking about a real music fan. We would often have conversations about bands he was following that I had no idea about. Sincerely, he supported some pretty diverse acts, and we discussed it every time I saw him at The Saint. Bob Colyard was a mainstay of the scene. Along with his wife Janet, Bob would often be spotted down at the end of the bar at The Saint on any given night. Sometimes Bob and Janet were the only ones there for specific acts, but the fact remains that he was always there. His knowledge of music, and life in general, was astounding. No matter what we discussed, it was always done with a frosty cold mug of beer and a band in the background. - John Pfeiffer / Shoreworld / The Aquarian Weekly

Thanks COYOTTE

Sounds like a great day , Coyote...and sorry for your loss....

And, may be going to Wallinford Friday to see Elvis, anyone else going?

Stu, i am tied up on Sunday,  not going to be able to make it to Asbury.

Jambone, I'd say go to the show. It ran about 2.5 hours start to finish... solid show. And as you see, they played a damn fine set of tunes.

Coyotte, very sorry to read about your cousin.  Sounds like a great day of music.

Here's a quick, albeit poor, photo from Asbury...

Elvis has a throat infection...we were bumming but found out early enough, 4 out of 8 of us had bought tix , the rest were gonna try and buy there, so, we all went to ct shore for dinner which was original plan to begin with!...now, we have to see if its a refund or a "reschedule" situation, as it mentions both in the bands statement...hpfly, he can find a date in next month or two..that is rumor anyway...now, we may get another friends get together out of deal, lol, as we all know, we never seem to do shit like this enough...ppl i went out with last night are all friends from early 20 s, late teens , (early 80 s etc), and all of us went to a ton of G D shows together...last night was first time 8 of us were in same room ( minus  church or 2) in many, many years...now we get to do it again!

Get well , Elvis!!

Tough break, Jambone, but it sounds like you folks made the best of it. Hope Elvis get back to ct for you.
