Sorry if this is a straight up Emily.  I don't pay that close of attention and just got this forwarded to me.

Hope all viva zoners are well...

From the JGB’s first show at the venue in 1981 to the legendary record number of performances in the late 80’s and 90’s to Jerry’s personal dressing room backstage, the walls of Bill Graham’s Warfield Theatre in San Francisco are filled with countless memories of Jerry’s music and spirit.

To continue that legacy, the ‘Jerry Garcia Birthday Band’ lineup from Red Rocks ’17 and Vail this past summer will return to the stage once more this January at the familiar confines of 982 Market Street for Like A Road Leading Home: Celebrating Jerry Garcia on January 11th and 12th! This past August’s 2 night run at Mighty High in Vail, CO was an unforgettable musical experience so we’re excited to bring the music of the JGB back home to the Warfield for these two shows with original JGB members Melvin Seals, Jacklyn LaBranch, and Gloria Jones along with Oteil Burbridge, Tom Hamilton, and Duane Trucks.

A limited number of pre-sale tickets will be available beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 7th, 10am PST at jerrygarciafanticketing.shop.ticketstoday.comwhile the general on-sale begins at 10am PST on Friday, Nov. 9th.

The Warfield should be on a national registry of historical landmarks.

Duane Trucks on drums playing JGB tunes? he's ok, but he's not an R&B guy for the Jerry songbook.... I'd rather have JGB's Pete Lavazolli -- he knows the material and already works well with Melvin. Oteil isn't really a John Kahn style player, either.

These pick up bands with new fake Jerrys need a solid (almost invisible) rhythm section to best play against, not "independent" jammers. But I guess if you have a name that might sell a few more tickets....

So screw these Jerry Birthday money grab "star studded" events -- enough already (shakes fist). Aside from the venue, it's a far cry from what was.

The shows in Vail were way better than I expected.

One of the many times I stood in the pit at The Warfield (Church), Jerry was between tunes with his back to the audience. It dawned on me to yell out for 'Like A Road', within easy hearing distance for Jerry, which I did. Without hesitation, Ol' Jer put his cigarette in the ashtray, wheeled around and broke into 'Like A Road'. It freaked me out (in a good way)!  I looked over at Melvin as if to ask "Is this really happening?" Melvin, as always was all smiles...heart

All those Jerry shows back in the day were money grabs.

JGB = Just Good Business

That's how many people referred to all those Warfield shows Jerry used to play.

I didn't mind, I just went to the shows.

I'll likely go to one of these shows.

They're just shows.

GTTS!

Poor timing as the SEVA benefit is on January 12th and a lot of Bay Area deadheads will be heading to Mexico for PITS early. I know I am leaving on January 11 and will miss all of this stuff!

Lance, I think you are way off base. If Jerry wanted to just "cash in" he could've eliminated Theatre shows completely in lieu of arenas. While he did start doing Stadium shows at one point, he never abandoned his spiritual home, The Warfield. Those shows were more like church than anything else.

That's to say nothing of the Garcia/Grisman runs which was where the rubber really met the road...
