Muslim Groups Raise Thousands For Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting Victims

“We wish to respond to evil with good.”

After a suspected gunman with anti-Semitic views killed 11 people and wounded six others at a Pittsburgh synagogue on Saturday, two Muslim groups are refusing to let religious hatred win.

Celebrate Mercy and MPower Change have banded together to raise money for their Jewish brothers and sisters at Tree of Life Or L’Simcha Congregation, which was the target of Saturday’s attack. They started a campaign on the Muslim-focused crowdfunding site LaunchGood in the hopes of raising $25,000 for the synagogue victims and their families. They are now past $50,000.

“We wish to respond to evil with good, as our faith instructs us, and send a powerful message of compassion through action,” the groups’ fundraising page said.

Once their goal has been hit, the groups say, the funds will be immediately transferred to the local Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, so they can be disbursed to the families to pay for medical and funeral expenses.

Niiiiiicee.....

bout, time to see change.

World needs more like this:

Instead of this:

The vigil I attended yesterday was attended by a very diverse group of people, all standing together against White Supremacy and Anti-Semitism.

White Supremacists  - including Trump, the NRA and the GOP are radicalizing Americans with their hate speech and conspiracy theories. Lies about Sorros  funding the migrant caravan, for example. The fringe white supremacist movement has a mouth piece in the White House. Sure,  racism and white Supremacist terrorism in America has been around since the beginning, but seeing The GOP and Trump making it ‘great again’ is sickening.

The man in the white house is the divider in chief. He sends coded signals to his faithful and takes no responsibility for what they do. He can't come out and say maybe I should tone it down a little. He only leads his base. He's not responsible to defend the rest of us. I hope to help everyone votes to send a message to DC. I don't think the message will slow trumps roll, but it might convince the rest of the pussies in the GOP to pay attention to us.

The Jewish comedians? The Catholic comedians? The black Comedians? the women comedians?  I mean, shouldn’t  she be more specific than just ‘the comedians’ - how’s the next MAGA Bomber know which comedians  to target?

I suppose she’s just trying to make it easy and just declare  open season on anyone  who is critical of Herr Trump.

Yes.

Jaz,

When I asked you if you were a serious show-goer on another thread, please know it was out of respect, something you'd mentioned made me think that.

    -Bryen

Colbert mentioned this group's efforts tonight and said they're over $100,000 so far.

Noble

It's interesting, and I haven't thought about it before today, that Noble and Nobel are such similar words.

Bryen, Not any more. Priorities,  and I have a very hard time justifying the prices the artists demand now.

Not to many shows in my area interest me any more.

Traveling longer than the show will last is a gage. Although I did travel to Colorado to see The Garcia Band and Electric Hot Tuna a couple of months ago I had the flexibility to be there.

No ,I am not a serious show goer any more. I patio tour.

I kind of quit the Grateful Dead around 1990 or so. Too many people.

I'm sure seeing Melvin was worth the trip, in some ways, other than Phil, he is the guy who collaborated with Jerry that I'm most excited to see play live, just pure love & positivity!  It was great seeing them together in Central Park, they should get together more often!
