Brawl At The Farmer's Market

It is a beautiful morning here in San Francisco. I went to The Farmer's Market on Alemany @ 7AM & it was packed. So many people. Beautiful produce & flowers.
I was in a booth trying to buy some squash blossoms when 2 women began fighting. I don't know what caused the dispute but it was heated.
They were both about 50 & recent Asian immigrants & apparently spoke different languages so they had to speak in English.. One was the vendor & the other was a customer.
The vendor said "You no buy. You go."
The customer said "Fuck you" & that did it.
They both started throwing punches & pushing.Tomatoes, beans, & squash were flying. I got clocked in the side of the head with an ear of corn.
I was standing & laughing with the Latin & Filipino brothers & sisters. I stayed back as they both could have given me a big ass whooping since they both out weighted me.
Lots of people, little kids & old people. Dogs.
I got my produce & 2 bunches of flowers, some orange spring roses & some blue flowers whose name I do not know.
God do I love the city.

In these parts, there have been issues with rival gangs of Asian mushroom pickers getting into nasty turf wars up in the woods over the right to pick porcini, chanterelles, truffles, matsutake, and other species that fetch top dollar.

I go to the Civic Center
I go to the Civic Center farmers market all the time and I haven't seen one of those. Usually it is a terminally homeless person going nuts though most people know about the 6'5" African security guard who carries a handgun. But you're basically your own police at the market
Also thousands of Asian folks in SF who you might think just moved here have actually been here for a lot longer than you think
