From every account I have heard he is a total and complete asshole. It is apparently a requirement for leadership in tech. For all the “forward” thinking they sure love their 1930’s corporate hierarchies and income disparities. It is one thing to be Jobs, Bezos, Ellison, or Musk and act like they do, but every mid-level manager up feels like they have to act like that to. Working in tech has just become a shit show of sprints and “unlimited” vacation days but only if all your work is done. Yes I’m bitter.
As my boss likes to say. The pace of change has never been faster than it is today, and it will never be this slow again.

No group of people born within 15 or 20 years of each other is monolithic in their behavior. Yes, some of "my" generation has been less than smart about the way we've done things. As has some of yours. And every other generation. Seeing the world, as you seem to, in black and white is not going to help.
Also, it's not my mess - personally. I maintain a relatively small carbon footprint and have always voted for candidates who advocate for the environment. I've marched and demonstrated, written letters, and tried to educate people. In my 25 years working in oceanography I have participated in numerous projects designed to investigate and mitigate environmental damage around the world.

Since this thread has gone off the original topic and a few have swallowed hard Marks troll bait, I'm going to comment off-topic on what I think is being exposed once again by this Elon Musk smoking weed story...
It is so sad and so telling that in this day & age the general thinking of many (or most?) people is still that smoking marijuana is a bad, dirty, loser thing to do.
I'm amazed that this Musk smoking pot story is such a big deal. If he & Rogan had been drinking expensive scotch out of crystal glasses no one would have said a thing. Hell, they could have been hammering down multiple beers from a keg and the only issue would have been what beer they were drinking.
It seems so obvious to me that in 2018 no matter whether one approves or not of smoking pot, or any type of intoxication, at this point EVERYone should understand that weed is no big deal and is nothing to get riled about in any way.
The lesson of course is that no matter how archaic, societal/moral prejudices are arbitrary and very difficult to break.
As for this thread, the lesson is that some people just can't help snapping at bait no matter where it's cast.
