Just got back to Seattle last night from a six day trip to D.C. where it was hot and muggy. Heard things were pretty toasty here too, but the heat wave broke last night. It was 70 when we arrived and dropped down to 61 this morning, with a nice thick ocean layer (providing nature's air conditioning) that will burn off this afternoon. Looks like highs in the 70's for the next week. The PNW is a great place to be when it gets like this. With luck, the sun will go down like honey and the moon come up like wine.
Hope the heat breaks for those of you getting roasted and toasted soon.

I live on the north slope of
I live on the north slope of Mt Davidson in San Francisco - the mountain with the giant cross on it that you may remember from 1971 Clint Eastwood classic: Dirty Harry?
For the better part of the last 2 months the weather where I live has been among the coldest, grayest, dismally wind driven gloom imaginable - meanwhile - just across the bay and to the East - it's triple digits and half the state is on fire.
I have lived here almost 33 years and I wouldn't trade it for any other place - mostly because of the music, liberal politics, food and fun - but the weather from June to Sept leaves much to be desired.
I always knew that the intense heat of the central valley pulls fog from the Pacific over SF as if it were blanket - but I recently learned that the reasons it's so intense here is that (besides that fact that there no mountains in the way to obstruct the air flow) the Pacific here is colder than in Alaska due to the forces of cold water upwelling...)

Glad to hear Western Oregon
Glad to hear Western Oregon is cooling too, Judit.
Treble, I was watching the Giants game a couple of days ago and everyone was bundled up like it was Fall. Of course, when it is Fall, it will be perfect in SF.

I spend a lot of time in Berkeley and San Rafael. A couple of weeks ago while Eugene toasted I was very comfortable in the Bay Area. San Rafael (Santa Venetia) was pretty warm, but not too hot.

Felt like a 100 degrees today
Felt like a 100 degrees today, and then I went in the attic to silicone a spot where some water was coming in, that felt like a good 125-130 for 15 minutes. I’m getting too old for this house maintenance.
Summer has has been hot as hell here in central fla., no cool ocean or gulf breezes here, with huge rainstorms in the late afternoon. Come mid September all up until May it will be paradise again.
