And he played with Phil Lesh too! (Movies sidebar)

Forums:

A few months ago I gave an online kudo to my buddy, Harry Greenberger, for winning the The Best Picture award at The Big Apple Film Festival with his directorial debut film "Staring At The Sun," which he also wrote. Some more praise is due. Since then, he's won the best picture at Manhattan Film Festival, the London Independent Film Awards, the Hollywood International Moving Picture Film Festival, The Los Angeles Film Festival and The Festigious International Film Festival. More festivals are coming up and I'm crossing my fingers that he garners a few more awards. Way to go, Harry!

Of course Zoners knew of Harry long before his string of accolades when he was the 2nd guitarist at the infamous Ryan Adams/Phil Lesh 12 Galaxies show back in 2006. Unfortunately he didn't get very good reviews at that show. In his defense, Harry was basically a guitar tech who played guitar, a Deadhead and friend of Ryan's that was called to duty less than an hour before the show because he at least knew the songs. Talk about a baptism by fire. Still he deserves an award just for giving it a go, considering he rarely performed on stage.

Oh neat. I will keep up-to-date on him. thx

That's what I thought; just-double-checking...

Wow that’s crazy!!!! Good for your friend that’s a lot of awards.

I didn’t know there was a singular for “kudos” either so ty

Curious as to what needs to be double-checked?

Word(s)

From Wiki:

The noun kudos was originally a mass noun, but it is now sometimes treated as a plural noun, either as a plurale tantum, or as the plural of a new noun kudo, contrary to the original Greek κῦδος (kûdos), which is a singular noun. The American pronunciation implies this plural usage, which many authorities nevertheless consider erroneous.

Ahhh TY Olas (ola?)

and yes, what was Bluelight double-checking?

To the best of my knowledge (hahah) Greenberg is the first Kudoian Cinematographer

^Somebody has to be the first. LOL.

Here's a video Harry wrote and directed for Jesse Malin's song Disco Ghetto starting Mary Louise Parker a few year ago.

To be fair, that show was infamous because it was an epic train wreck that I can't recall anyone blaming your buddy for.

So the reason that show sucked was because of Phil Lesh and Ryan Adams and not because of the movie director who was playing guitar. Interesting. Might have to look that one up.

The reason that 12 Galaxies show sucked is because it was a last-minute idea that started after midnight after Ryan played a solo show across town, so there was zero rehearsal. Also, Ryan pretty much didn't know the GD material at all. Oh, and Ryan was wasted.

I saw the same "group" play the encore of Ryan's solo show the night before. He was wasted that night as well (to be fair he wasn't nearly as wasted at the end of that show as he was at the beginning - he was WASTED at the beginning of that show) and oh man that little encore was a trainwreck.

I chose not to go to the 12 Galxies show the next night because I had a good idea how it would go, and even though they only charged $5 to get in I believe I made the correct decision.

The best part of the whole deal was how the Philzone BLEW UP with righteous indignation from those who went.

It was pretty funny.

BTW, that Adams solo show I saw the night before was brilliant. Ryan almost fell off his chair at least twice at the start and was barely able to make it through the first 15 minutes or so, but he got it together after some banter with someone in the crowd who called out, "We paid for this ya' know!". Ryan's response to that was pretty damned funny and it seemed to clear his head a bit.

Here's the 12 Galaxies show...

(It's not good)

Oh shit thanks for the review and link any links to the show you saw where he was wasted?

Maybe I'll bury the non-pissing contest in this thread I  just wondered about -- just for shits and grins

Seriously, who goes to the most shows? Sometimes it's mind boggling

let's have gr8fulgary and heathen in the running f..

>>>link any links to the show you saw where he was wasted<<<

I just did.

And Gary goes to way more shows than I do, especially nowadays.

Oh, sorry. You asked for a show I actually saw.

Here is the show from the night before the 12 Galaxies show, and that show/Ryan WAS brilliant that night.

He was mesmerizing, and that was the night I became a true fan.
