Jerry Garcia would be turning 76 years old on August 1st. His birthday is more worthy of celebration than ever, so, on August 17th and 18th, the Jerry Garcia Birthday Band will get together for two nights in Vail. Following last year’s 75th birthday celebration at Red Rocks, the tradition will continue with longtime Jerry Garcia Band members Melvin Seals, Jacklyn LaBranch, and Gloria Jones with their musical co-conspirators and friends, Oteil Burbridge (Dead & Company), Tom Hamilton (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead), and Duane Trucks (Widespread Panic).
Returning to under the stars in Colorado, the Jerry Garcia Birthday celebration will take place at theGerald R. Ford Amphitheater, a spectacular outdoor venue with stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. The special two-night birthday run also coincides with the annual Colorado Classic, a circuit race for elite cyclists.

I represent small town - very
I represent small town - very low profile, not famous in any way but equally dedicated to the Dead efforts before and after Jerry Day!
This Saturday at Ocean Alehouse on Ocean Ave, not too far from McLaren Park, but in the Ingleside - from 5 to 9 PM I'll be playing a pre-Jerry Day party with "Ted & Company."
This me on bass alongside a bunch of ambitious and talented college kids (including my kid - Stuart, on lead guitar and vocals).
We will play several sets of Electric Grateful Dead!
Also (presuming you read this far) - When the final notes of JGB run out of road (around 6 PM Sunday)...
I'll be playing acoustic Dead tunes from 6 to 9 , alongside some of our original swamp - funk, blues and rock at a new Brewery on San Bruno Avenue - about a mile below McLaren Park near 101 with Fog Swamp.
"Fog Swamp is a San Francisco-based assemblage of first-call musicians that performs original swamp rock. Steeped in genres ranging from rock, New Orleans funk and blues to bluegrass and jazz. As part of the FDR Brewery acoustic summer series (and as a Jerry Day after-party!), on August 5th, Fog Swamp will be playing a set of acoustic tunes celebrating the music of Mr. Jerome Garcia...."
