I've been trying to find a decent copy to add to my collection, think I'm gonna pick up the remaster CD and call it a day. I dug this release when I had vinyl
Modular synthesizers are huge right now so that's why Pitchfork is all over it.
I still have the Rykodisc CD but have looked for a decent priced vinyl of this, living in San Francisco for 22 yrs and shopping at Amoeba since it opened I have seen this LP used only once, quite a few years ago, before vinyl got hip and even then it was extremely expensive (I have found just about every other GD side project LP that I was looking for for a decent price, Rum Runners, Hooteroll, Rolling Thunder, Keith & Donna). It's just not a record people get rid of.
Just a note, there is tons of this kind of stuff out there, it not like other people weren't doing this sort of thing. Here's a recent re-release that is really good
While they downplay the influence of the GD members I would say that because of them that this project got any sort of traction whatsoever, not just the release. Check out the Palace of Fine Arts Seastones show, check out the Dominican Univ. Seastones show
I think in 1974 the only people in rock bands who were playing analog modular synthesizers on stage were prog guys like Keith Emerson. And he was not playing improvised noise bleeps and bloops like Phil and Ned. I think if anyone dislikes Seastones or doesn't "get" it it's pretty understandable
