What's Michael Stipe up to?

Forums:

Anyone know?

Thread has legs!

Good question.  I can't recall him doing anything noteworthy since he came out of hiding to sing "Losing My Religion" with the Coldplay dude at some benefit, maybe for Katrina or Sandy?

Here you go, Ben, this is the last part from the "career" section of his Wiki entry:

>>>>

Stipe inducted the American grunge band Nirvana into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 10, 2014.[31] He debuted his first solo composition at Moogfest in 2017.[32] Later that year, he performed with Fischerspooner on the new song "Have Fun Tonight" from its 2017 album Sir.[33] Stipe released the solo song "Future, If Future" on March 24, 2018.[34]

Political activism    Edit
In March 2018, Michael Stipe joined the “March for Our Lives” rallies to advocate gun control after Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. He also released a teaser of his new song in the rally.[35][36]

I'm more curious about what Mike Mills is doing.  While Pete Buck has stayed active and maintained a musical profile, Mills has practically disappeared.  Very underrated bassist/vocalist.  As they're all in their late 50's, maybe they will all work together again?  With Bill Berry solidly retired, they'd have to pry Bill Rieflin back from his King Crimson and Ministry work, or find a new drummer .

About 5 years ago, I was waiting for the last train back to NJ at an almost deserted Penn Station on a school night/morning. I was chatting with a woman I know who is in the biz when she looks up and says hi to Micheal Stipe. He was walking slowly in the station, pausing on occasion to study some feature. He told the woman that he was writing a song. I still want to hear that song, even if it's lousy. lol

Mike Mills I see every time The Baseball Project comes around NYC. He has also been known to fill in bass duties in a couple of Steve Wynn's bands.

I like the final R.E.M album and think it's kinda underrated

wait a minute... is this an episode of 'R U Talkin' REM. RE:ME?' ?
