Cardinals reunion?

Forums:

Seems DRA put out the call to former members to record a few songs at Electric Ladyland to honor his recently deceased brother. This could be something real good or nothing at all. Time will tell.

didn't know his brother died, that's sad.

hope it works out for him and they put some fine music together, be great for everybody.

I'd love to see the cardinals reunite for some shows at txr with Phil on bass

^this.

what up, E.

Great band. Hope they make some new music.  RIP Ryan's bro.

"with Phil on bass"

Hmm, but then we wouldn't get to see the beautiful Catherine Popper.

Neal Casal is boring.

Slacker is a Drainbow.

YES to Cardinals, specifically Graboff and Casal. I would travel for that.

Casal is tasty

Neal Casal is both pleasant and kinda boring but better suited to the Cardinals than CRB by far.

He could sit in on a couple but Phil ain't learning a set of other people's music.

Cardinals with Bowerstock > Cardinals with Casal

I always thought Casal's playing sounds ball-less, not boring.

Chris Robinson won't permit it.  He made Neal quit the Hardworking Americans.  (btw, whatever happened to that band?)

I'd love to see the cardinals reunite for SOME SHOWS ANYWHERE with CAT on bass.

As I said in the original post, this could be something or nothing. It really doesn't matter where a show or shows happen. I would be pulling for NYC during recording though. As for Cat instead of Phil on bass, Phil could sit in on a song or two. There is a dynamic between Ryan and Cat that can best described as two siblings constantly busting each other's chops with escalation at each occurrence. It is magic to see, hear and watch and IMO it provides that underlying tension that always seems to happen in the best collaborations.

As for lead guitar, I betcha Neal, JP and Ryan would make a powerful guitar trio noise.

Phil covered a lot of Ryan Adams songs with Phil and Friends. Over 20.

I don't think we're going to see Cryin' Ryan at TxR, which is a shame.

Fuckin' zoners.

GET OVER The Whole FUCKING Cryin Ryan BullCRAP That Term Is Wrong ! And So Yesterday He Has WAY WAY More Talent   Than Tons Around Here

I saw a vegoose Phil and friends show at the hard rock where Phil played more Ryan Adams tunes than Grateful Dead tunes

Sorry Plf9905, but 'Cryin' Ryan' is a GREAT nickname for him, based on the subject matter of so many of his songs as well as the reputation he most definitely earned from his earlier years.

And I'm a huge fan, so I don't say CR mockingly.

BTW Plf, how do you decide exactly on which letters & words you choose to capitalize?

Is there a pattern or is it completely random?

You’d be crying too if you weren’t banging Mandy Moore any moore

GET OVER The Whole FUCKING Cryin Ryan BullCRAP That Term Is Wrong !

Plf ~ While I understand your sentiment, Ryan actually likes the nickname. More than a few in his circle call him that and he even does a character in shtick who bears that name. It's quite funny to watch.

Letterman used to look at that guy like he looked at drew Barrymore

To be fair,it was more whinin' than cryin'.

This, also Phil sat in for over half of the cardinals set when they opened for Willie Nelson at the Hollywood bowl in 06'
