WTF happened to Bonnaroo?

Forums:

Seriously. I know I sound old, but I remember when they actually had lineups worth seeing. Oh well, I hope everyone going this weekend has a good time at the bands worth seeing, like STS9 and ...... damn is that the only one worth checking out? ouch. thanks ticketmaster.

Superfly is doing a big festy in Denver this fall. Stevie Wonder is the only act I'd like to see, although I haven't looked too deep into the acts. But yea, we've been left behind LOL.

Shitfly gone to hell

Sturgill Simpson

Trombone Shorty

Old Crow Medicine Show

Mavis Staples

Amadou & Mariam

5 acts worth seeing.

What happened was that the people who hang around this message board have grown out of the demographic that Bonnaroo is targeted at. Still plenty of solid acts in that lineup, just acts that "we" aren't familiar with or care about.

Festies for custies

Bonnaroo became mainstream. There are like 8000 other jam fests that have sprung from it.

Coachella East

For quite a few years now.

Tony is 100% correct.

Festivals suck. Just a cheap thrill. Quick money grab for investors. Performers put on some cookie cutter half ass sets that at usually not too long and get paid a boatload of change. Fuck em

Haaaaahahahahahahaha

Festivals suck <<< I Agree ! yes

Hardly Strictly is perfect. free, centrally located, over by 7ish so you can see a club gig after. perfect.

Too many people they had to put up fences everywhere and you can't move.   It was perfect ten years ago.  Now it's a cluster

it all depends on how you hardly strictly. there are different ways.

so you're saying selling those custy shirts for $10 is a paradestradamus.

"Radio Dial" Festivals have grown tiresome.

Doesn't really matter as long as there is non stop music!!!

Lockn and your rotating stage I'm looking in your general direction.

Smaller festivals have been the way to go for a bit now.

At least for me.

I actually enjoy large music festivals, despite their shortcomings. The broad selection of music allows me to see people I wouldn't normally see and some of those acts end up being ones that I become fans of. The type of festival that I'm not fond of is those who have multiple acts that sound more or less the same. Luckily there are enough festivals with different ideas on performer selection to that everyone can find a flavor to their liking.

We are no longer the demographic that they are marketing to, it's as simple as that.

The current Firefly lineup...

My 19 year old daughter is even skipping it this year.

Bonnawrong?

Firefly Sunday line-up looks to provide some good beats.

Good lineup.

It's cray cray when ateix and I agree on ANYTHING.

You sound old and jaded AF.  I've always said festivals are what you make of them; you create your experience... I think that's a beautiful thing, really.

If I want to be alone and freak by the stage all day, I can.  If I want to spend all day consuming illicits with a bunch of derelicts at camp, I can.  Meet new friends, casual hookups, face melting good times... it's what you make of it.

> Quick money grab for investors... get paid a boatload of change.

That exactly the opposite of how these fests work.  Sure there is profit and sure some acts get paid very well but most don't and most people behind the fest themselves are sweating the whole weekend wondering if their world is going to implode on Tuesday morning when the bills start to arrive.

It's not like the old days:-((
