I am so proud that Jeff Merkley is my Senator. He is active on many issues but has recently made captive children a priority. The government is so wrong to steal these children from their parents and imprison/warehouse them.

Senate Democrats have introduced legislation to prevent the separation of immigrant children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border in an attempt to push back against the Trump administration.
The legislation, spearheaded by Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), would only allow children to be separated from a parent if they are being abused, trafficked or if a court decides "it is in the best interests of the child."
"The United States must not be a country that traumatizes young children by separating them from their parents. ... Congress has a moral obligation to take a stand and say that families should not be forcibly separated," Feinstein said on Friday.
In a knock on Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the legislation would prevent a child from being separated from a parent or legal guardian "solely for the policy goal of deterring individuals from migrating to the United States or for the policy goal of promoting compliance with civil immigration laws." ...
