I never saw Jerry so it ain't up to me. 

I have been a GD enthusiast (aka Deadhead?) since early 1980s. Rarely have I ever owned a tie dye, had long hair, anything like that. I always laughed at the people who were so anti-establishment yet felt the need to have a Guatemalan/tie-dye uniform to identify themselves as a deadhead and/or hippie. Ironic.

Isn't there more than one way to do This?

To me, a Deadhead is simply someone who fucking loves the GD and calls themselves one. It has nothing to do with shows seen, how one dresses or politics.

I remember people calling me a deadhead before there was a Grateful Dead.
In fact, I know at least a few of my grade school teachers used that term, among other terminology to describe may lack of behavior and/or motivation.
I even had a little league coach who used to call me deadhead and hamburger at the same time. "Billy! You deadhead hamburger, this one's coming to you!"

That vibe in the Mothership in Hampton 3-27-88.  That was pretty real, and it was fucking awesome.  Alpine Valley 87 was one of the most amazingly amnazing perfectly perfect 3 days of fun fun fun...there's so many.  God I loved being a Deadhead in the 80's.

Alpine '88 was too damn hot.  Other than that, it was fantastic.  The weather in 87 was sooooooo much nicer...plus camping on the golf course.

If the Dead is playing on the stereo, I can carry on a conversation and sing along in my head at the same time. It’s like the music is ingrained in my brain.

Did I say that I LOVE THE GRATEFUL DEAD, and I am proud to be a Deadhead.
