I see people linking NYTimes, Washington Post, etc here. If it's not the first week of the month, I've already viewed all my free articles and get bounced everytime.
Is everyone paying for access? Are you guys clearing your cookies on exiting your browser or something? Am I the only one having this problem?
Thanks.

Well, on my iPad/iPhone, I have an option for “private” viewing where they can’t keep track of you. I use that feature when I’m viewing sites with a pay wall.

That's what I did at first, until I had viewed 10 articles in my second browser...
So I set rules to not allow cookies or delete cookies from certain sites. But I was always having to add new rules.
So much easier to just Right Click->Open Link in Incognito Window

There are two main online National News outlets where viewing stories in a private browser will not work>
Washington Post and Wall Street Journal. You may get to see a few stories but not unlimited numbers.
This was also the case with the LA Times but that outlet is so fucked by management scandals it's hardly worth reading.

its funny that new, internet
its funny that new, internet based news companies generally do not ask for subscription fees and have their business set up around ad revenue, like the rest of the internet.
but some of these old legacy newspaper companies just cant figure that shit out. in 20-30 years everyone willing to pay that fee will be dead, and just like 5 or 10 years ago, these companies will be close to collapse and will have to scramble for a fix again, instead of learning from their mistakes and anticipating changes in the market rather than reacting to them last minute.
these guys are like the blockbuster of news media...just strings of regrettable decisions. its pretty sad to watch. these days most major newspapers are pissing the bed so hard you'd think trump just cut them a check.

its funny that new, internet
IMO, most of those internet ad only news sites are worth about what you pay for them...nothing. Good, old fashioned fair reporting takes money to produce. As far as I'm concerned, paywalls at news sites let me know that the I'm not just reading a story based on it's abilty to provide clicks on ads. Besides, new site ads are in rate freefall because Facebook dictates the market these days. They give a much lower rate because they have a lot more eyeballs looking at almost anything but news.
As a final comment, intellectual property, be it news storied, photos, music, software or anything else deserves to make the creators a living.
