Zoner Down - So Terribly Sad, Shocking -

Oh God. He sent me an email Monday at 5:40 and he just wanted to say hello and stuff...I didn't want to let him go until he told me how he was and didn't reply. I was upset then, now I just want to die.

He was so nice to me. Oh God. His poor family.

RIP Henry

Please let him rest in peace.

Oh no!!!! oh this hurts my heart... he was one of the kindest zoners i never got to meet in 3d.. after my dad was killed in 2001, he made it a point to befriend me ~ always checking in with me and sending little packages of sunshine to me.

Just got off the phone with BeNice.  She says thanks to everyone for all the kind words and she wants us all to know how important the zoner community was to Henry and how much they both appreciate this community.  She did ask that people not send flowers, I guess their garden is blooming and she has enough of her own for now.  There will be a memorial at a future date.  Still a little in shock I think, taking care of some business today, in the "stay busy" phase.  We'll check in with her again this weekend.

Oh crap. So sad to hear about this. Bart was an A lister and the best of what the zone was about.

Alias, I'm glad that you were able to connect with BeNice.  And thank you so much for sharing her message.

I didn't get to know Henry and BeNice until he was diagnosed with cancer, shortly after my Dad passed.  I was so happy to share success stories from friends who had positive results from UCSF cancer treatments.  It was helpful for me to know that Henry was going to try something that my Dad wasn't able to do.

Henry was so great about trying to connect with me when he was down in the Bay Area and it was a real joy to talk with him on the phone when we weren't able to see each other.

I've already shared that he and BeNice hung out with me for my birthday last year and treated me like royalty, with kindness and generosity.

I know that he went through quite the struggle with treatments and resulting pain that I cannot even imagine.  Still, he was friendly, upbeat, and ready to have a good time.

I'm sending love your way, BeNice.

I hate to say it but I get mixed up sometimes with who is who here and who I've met. So often it's just a smile and a handshake while crossing paths at a show, so if acceptable could someone please post a photo of Henry?

But whether I've met him & interacted with him in 3D or not at all, I always enjoyed his posts and was left with a good feeling after reading them, and I've always been impressed and admired how he seemed to be handling his health issues.

It sounds like Henry was a real winner. We're all here for just a moment, I can only hope I have half the positive impact in my moment that it sounds like Henry did.

He had a great sense of humor and I’ll always treasure the little bit of time I got to spend with him at Zoner Jams and shows.  Thanks for the pancakes Henry.

Johnny, I remember when you and BeNice and Bart were interacting about his health issues.  You were super encouraging and comforting. 

When red and I relocated to CA back in the day, we were very lucky to have zoner connections.  In particular Cinderoo and Buncombe in Chico, who are awesome people that I can never see enough of.  And Bart and BeNice who insisted on us coming up to visit them in Grass Valley, where they gave us the royal treatment.  We hung out with them quite a bit, especially back then.  Hiking, swimming holes, shows on the beach in Tahoe.  Some people just have that knack of being kind at all times.

Some may remember Bart holding court when we all met up at the Zeitgeist in SF the afternoon of a Phil show, lo so many moons ago.  He was in his element that day.

Enjoyed hangin' with him for brief moments at the early zoner jams.  Seemed like a good guy.

So very beyond saddened and sorry to hear this devastating news.  My heart goes out to all of you who clearly cherished him both here on the zone and in real life.  I can’t even begin to imagine how BeNice must feel and what she must be going through.   My deepest condolences to all, this has obviously affected so many here.  This really hurts in the gut.

I met Henry and BeNice at a show at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas. Two of the kindest, sweetest, most giving people you could ever run into. I am very saddened to hear of this. All my love to BeNice. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him!

Much Thanks Zone for all the love for  Bart aka Henry. He loved every single one of you.....some that we have met in person,some he connected with only on the site.You were all very important to him the past few years during his many medical challenges.You know who you are.  This is what makes our life awesome.Connection,responsibility,kindness -everything that my beautiful man was.Support,laughter,generosity,pure fun and MUSIC.A special  thanks to Teal,Alias,Red Neck and of course Judit. I have been somewhat overwhelmed with the unexpected timing but will be okay.He passed at home on our deck,music blasting in the warm California afternoon.His Memorial is set for a a simple gathering on May 19th morning,at our local Briar Patch Health Food Store Garden Amphitheater,Grass Valley California .Details may or may not be posted here .I need to start taking care  of myself for awhile because I am completely pooped out  phoned out,computer crazy for awhile so re-surface later down the trail. Thanks for sharing your open heart's and stories here for his send off.Alias tells me that one Hundred posts are a big deal....especially when all the posts are nice.So carry on Viva and Be Nice to ever  because you never know what someone else is going through.The music memories will not Fade Away.
