p.p.s. More dates in the US and Canada have already been added but with support TBA. More up to date list of shows at http://frank-turner.com/live-gigs/

I saw him in Atlanta a few years back at an outdoor park day festival. On our way back to the car, a group of people were gathered on a street corner and there he was going at it solo. It was pretty cool. I may have to go check him out again at the Tabernacle.

I haven't done this in awhile but here goes.

If you want to take a flyer on a Frank Turner show on this tour, buy yourself a ticket. If after the show you find that you did not like the show/him contact me and I will refund the cost of your ticket. Only 1 ticket though, you have to pay for your date.

Putting your money where your mouth is, you really stand behind Frank Turner!

I'm always interested in checking out your music recs, Tony.

I'll see if I can swing the RR date for sure.

What about the cost of "refreshments"?

Chris Stapleton w/ Marty Stuart and Brett Cobb looks nice

What about the cost of "refreshments"?

Knowing the crew that hangs around these posts, I have a feeling that "refreshments" would average 4x the cost of a ticket. You are on your own.

It just struck me that Frank's song, Photosynthesis, would be a good theme song for Viva.

Well I guess I should confess that I am starting to get old
All the latest music fads all passed me by and left me cold
All the kids are talking slang I won't pretend to understand
All my friends are getting married, mortgages and pension plans
And it's obvious my angry adolescent days are done
And I'm happy and I'm settled in the person I've become
But that doesn't mean I'm settled up and sitting out the game
Time may change a lot but some things may stay the same

And I won't sit down
And I won't shut up
And most of all I will not grow up
And I won't sit down
And I won't shut up
And most of all I yeah I won't grow up

Oh maturity's a wrapped up package deal so it seems
And ditching teenage fantasy means ditching all your dreams
All your friends and peers and family solemnly tell you you will
Have to grow up be an adult yeah be bored and unfulfilled
Oh when no ones yet explained to me exactly what's so great
About slaving 50 years away on something that you hate,
about meekly shuffling down the path of mediocrity
Well if that's your road then take it but it's not the road for me

And I won't sit down
And I won't shut up
And most of all I will not grow up
And I won't sit down
And I won't shut up
And most of all I yeah I won't grow up
And I won't sit down
And I won't shut up
And most of all I will not grow up

And if all you ever do with your life
Is photosynthesize
Then you deserve every hour of these sleepless nights
That you waste wondering when you're gonna die

Now I'll play and you sing
The perfect way for the evening to begin
Now I'll play and you sing
The perfect way for the evening to begin

And I won't sit down
And I won't shut up
And most of all yeah I won't grow up
And I won't sit down
And I won't shut up
And most of all I will not grow up
And I won't sit down
And I won't shut up
And most of all I will not grow up

At Red Rocks, I typically only get a soft serve ice cream cone, sometime two.

Best deal in the house @ $3.75 or whatever it is now ... you'd be getting off cheap if I'm the lucky winner.

You, and you alone, decide if you are the lucky winner, FoM. You either buy the ticket, go to the show and let me know if you like it or not. If you don't like it, the show that is, not the lack of me providing refreshments, I reimburse your ticket price. If you feel that you are being taken advantage of by me not reimbursing your refreshment costs, feel free to not buy a ticket.

I had a coworker years ago who really liked lucero give me a frank turner cd.

it's not bad

I've never heard of this guy, but I youtube'd a recent show of his. It sounds good and fun, but it seemed that most of his songs sound a bit alike in that high energy, bouncy way.

I just skimmed through it, and of course one can never really tell what a show is like from videos or streams, but I'm not sure how I'd feel about an hour and a half of that.

And Turtle, Marty Stewart is an opening act on that Chris Stapleton tour? As always Stewart would be good but I'd look to bail after his set, unless you like to be thrown up on by 16-year-olds.

I suppose it would open the door for you re: refreshments, but no worries ... it's a generous offer.  However, the Red Rocks show is the same weekend as Jazz Fest in Telluride and will have already been there for SCI a couple weeks prior.   But you never know.

Unfortunately, most of the quality FT shows on YouTube seem to be festival sets that doesn't allow him and the band to stretch it out. A FT headlining show has better pace and dynamics. You are one of the people that I suspect would come away from a show as a big fan, Lance. While Frank is an excellent songwriter, it is in a live setting that the magic happens.

I listened to some of some songs. Pass.

usually up for whatever Tony recommends... had not heard of FT, so listened to half a dozen youtubes and my conclusion is that I will pass... just not my thing at all.
