Did you get the flu this year? Seems to be hitting everyone I know pretty damn hard. 2 weeks of on/off fever and a cough that won't quit. Finally getting over it. And now there's a nasty stomach bug going around. Yuck. Yeah, I had the flu vaccine for what's it's worth. One of my co-workers said that there were only 7 kids (out of 24) in her kid's class yesterday, the rest were out with the stomach flu. Norovirus spreading like wildfire in the SF schools now.

Yep, I can't remember ever
Yep, I can't remember ever having the flu. This one seems to be hitting most everyone I know. Spent all day yesterday doing loads and loads of laundry and disinfecting the house now that we're both over the nasty bug. Feels good to be well, and mostly done coughing. At least the cough didn't last as long as the time I got whooping cough.

I haven't felt so sick since I was 10 years old. Aches in my legs like I have never felt and a screaming high fever.
I have an appointment with my doctor at 9am tomorrow. I first noticed it Wednesday at 4pm. I have past the 48 period where they could have addressed it with medication, I think.
At the start of the day 30 people in the US have died in this outbreak. H1N2 was not part of the vaccine this year. Kid in Ct passed away today from it
The CDC who tracks the flu epidemic closes at midnight tonight. They get affected by the Govt shutdown.
Lets hope Trump get the flu....

A couple weeks ago I ended up
A couple weeks ago I ended up in ER after 3 days of a constant fever of 102 ..:( I felt changes happening that were not good nor normal for me, they broke the fever with fluids and Toradol IV and antibiotics. A CT scan showed my heart was enlarged and I have a gallstone AND a kidney stone. They diagnosed me as septic with bronchial pneumonia and put me on 750mg of levaquin and steroids . They did swab my nose for flu and it came up negative !
I am much better now but not gone out of my home except to do a curbside pickup of essentials and meds. I carry hand sanitizer and refuse to go around people till this flu season dies down. I am lucky to be retired and can stay at home, I also have MS and a very compromised immune system so I am used to applying universal precautions in my daily routine.
The weird twist is that my cousin died right at Christmas from " complications due to the flu" .... they lived in Escondido California. They flew his body here for burial and I hosted my Aunt and his brother here at my house till he was buried on 12/30. My Aunt was coughing and hacking all over my house and throwing her snot rags all over, so I was certain with the incubation period that I had the flu.
I Love my little cocoon and will not surface till Panic in DC in March, my goal in life is to get healthy for the next show,,,lol !
Ohh and I did not get the flu shot this year :(

best wishes to all of you who are sick, it sounds nasty. I haven't had flu for like 20 years, but that one sure sucked and I get my flu shot every year now. I guess there are advantages to working at home, i don't get as many germs.

since December, when this flu epidemic seemed to really get going, I've only been out in public a couple times, at DNB NYE and one other time up here in Humboldt about a week ago... I've been especially diligent about washing my hands frequently
about 10 years ago I got my first flu shot as a senior, and wouldn't ya know it, I came down with a nasty case that season... pissed me off, so I decided to skip the shots for the next few years, during which time I did not get the flu
about 3 years ago, after I kept reading stuff (propaganda?) about how necessary it was for seniors to get a flu shot, I said WTF and decided to get back into the habit of getting a flu shot every year

The other night the news was saying that we should still get the shot, even if we know it's the wrong one. It "may" decrease the severity of the flu if you do get it, and it "may" carry over to next year and give some immunity, assuming that this year's shot is next year's flu.
Seems a bit iffy for me.
