I really dig her brother viktor's bass work as a sideman for legends like Peter Rowan and Lyle Lovett though.
i guess if being in her band funds Jerry's solo albums it's a necessary evil.

Never liked them, way to cheezy & pop sounding. But never been a fan of any kind of "newgrass", even having seen the original Newgrass Revival when I lived in WV in the early '80's. "I just don't Get It". & Yeah, I can see the progression from Union Station to those awful "Pop Faux Americana" bands like Avetts, Mumfords, Lumineers. Awful Genre. Altho Brandi Carlisle isn't too bad . . .

I saw Krause a few decades ago. Her wrist was broken and she couldn’t play fiddle, which is her strongest asset. The entire show was her vocals, which almost drove me to the loony bin.

What really pisses me off is that Real Americana bands that I liked are now no longer touring because the Avetts & Mumfords Poached their members as backup musicians (the Dukhs, the Gourds). Yeah I know, they gotta make a living. Hope they like wearing those stupid sweater vest suit uniforms @ festivals in the hot summer.

The worst current trend in
The worst current trend in the Jam Band genre is the crop of Bisco sound alike/spinoff bands like Dopapod & the Werks. Disco Biscuits are Awful enuff w/o a crop of Pretenders. Used to be all the jambands just tried to sound like Phish (Tea Leaf Green, Twiddle). I'm sure there's some SCI spinoff bands too, I just don't wanna know ;(

Well, I saw her back in 1988
Well, I saw her back in 1988 with a small group of old time fiddlers on the masters of the folk violin tour, it was wonderful in a super small place ( Wheaton Glass in Millville, NJ) . We talked a bit and she leaned down and gave my son a kiss :) she was just starting out then, but i was a fan. Thing is you don't see her fiddle like that anymore, I like her still...but the older stuff. Kinda like she became too soft or something..
Her voice is still beautiful and I enjoy her , would love to see her rip like she did back then.

Alison was booked to headline
Years back, before she hit it big, Alison was booked to headline a local annual bluegrass festival. She got sick and couldn't do it.
Then the Grammy's hit and her popularity (and price) increased dramatically.
She came back the next year and did the gig for the previous price, which was a lot lower than her rate at the time.
