Weed and cancer

Forums:

So I have a good friend who was diagnosed with having caught the tongue cancer a few months ago. She went in for surgery and they didn’t get all of it so now she has started chemo and radiation treatments for the next month in an effort to get the rest of it.

She lives in Massachusetts so she has access to medical marijuana stores.

Although ive been an avid smoker I don’t know much about CBD or how CBD and THC relate to cancer. I know she can’t smoke and I ordered her a PAX 3 vaporizer because I heard they are nice and she can vaporize both weed or concentrates,

I’ve read some stuff online but I figured I’d ask you people too since many of you seem immersed in the weed situation and may have dealt with similar experiences as what my friend is going through.

So, if you had a friend with tongue cancer, who was interested in using marijuana as a method to ease pain and discomfort of chemotherapy and the illness itself and possibly help suppress(?) or cure(???) the cancer itself, where might you start? Anyone out there been through anything similar?

I appreciate the help.

My good friend of forty five years is battling Pancreatic cancer. He has done chemo, radiation and low dose chemo and now a different low dose chemo through his port.

Bucky, I don't know much either. Sorry I can't help you in that way.

I hope MarkD pops in. Superior knowledge.

Any way, we get together at least twice a week (when he is up to it) and smoke. Separate joints or pipes of course.

We talk real talk while burning then both start joking and laughing.

It sure eases his mind for a while.

Now that's good meds.

i helped an older buddy get some 20:1 CBD:THC drops for his friend who had tongue cancer. said it helped him...but think he was pretty far in to the disease.

Cool thanks guys - from what I’ve read Turtle the CBD helps with pain and inflammation so it sounds like something with that kind of ratio might help my friend too. TY

You might want to have her call the doctor/nurse back to make sure that vaping is ok. Instead of vaping -  try getting some tinctures and put a few drops in tea. There are delivery systems from everything from edibles to suppositories. From personal experience with a loved one dealing with cancer, I have seen top cancer specialists who have said that not enough studies have been done and that the only effect that it might have is helping ease with the effects from cancer and the treatment thereof.  Then again, I have heard a tale or two of positive effects at shrinking tumors.

It's is such a horrible disease and it is quite shameful that our planet prefers spending its resources on wars instead of a cure.

Thanks for the heads up about vaping I will bring it up for sure and the tincture idea sounds good too

That is so true.

And yes, for people in your friend's situation tinctures seem like a good idea. I hope she gets some ease.

Vapor will still aggravate her tongue. Edibles, tinctures, drinks etc are the way to go. I'm no doctor, and honestly most dr.'s have very limited knowledge, but I've had experience with both humans and animals in this department. Get a high CDB strain for pain management AND also get a mid range THC strain(15% or so). Again we have limited knowledge about THC but I've noticed that the combo of a high CBD strain with a little kick from decent amount of THC is the right combo for many. Peace to your friend and anyone that is dealing with this horrible disease.

Thanks Jonas I appreciate the input.

Ive heard a few people mention now that some THC with the CBD is helpful in some way, I’ll make sure to bring this up too.

Full extract Cannabis oil can be made at home with a little knowledge and patience. Tincture is much easier to make but takes time and is not as potent. Both can be used here, although the alcohol in tincture may be an issue. Both should be available at a medical dispensary.  Add the cannabis oil to coconut oil and hold it in mouth as long as possible. Get those cannabinoids right to to point of attack. I would try a one to one ratio up to a 5-1 THC-CBD. THC is the cancer killer. CBD regulates the CB1 receptors that the THC attaches to. The synergistic effect is huge. Some cancers require more CBD than others. But all need THC to kill.  I have no direct knowledge about tongue cancer, as I have not encountered it before. If you want more info, Bucky, send me an email.

So you used to Power Hit the family dog back in high school too?  :)

But good luck to Mr Badger's friend, I'd hafta agree that vaping may not be a good idea, my lungs are so fried I can't smoke anymore & vaping causes me issues too, altho not as bad.

Thanks for all of the input guys.

Mark I sent an email your way, much appreciated.
