what i had heard last night
what i had heard last night was that the video and the incident were real, but the gofundme, as well as several social media and/or email accounts used to promote the gofundme, were fakes set up by a scammer or scammers.

im not keeping up on this story so cant vouch for any of the claims or statements in there, but atm it does seem like the kid did get bullied, the original vid was legit, but the gofundme is fake and the mother has been impersonated by scammers.

Yeah, plenty of stories
Yeah, plenty of stories coming out about Keaton and his family, including one that he was bullied for calling his classmates the n-word. And after Mom confirmed that the FB photos of the family with the Confederate flag were real (oh, but meant to be funny) it does cast doubt on their version. yes, according to snopes an instagram account did not belong to Mom, but the FB posts were definitely hers.

probably wasnt headline worthy in the first place. the media has a bad habit of taking big issues, like racism or bullying, and trying to strip them down to human interest stories revolving around single people or events, while ignoring the larger issues behind the individual stories, like the type of state bureaucracies that make it possible for bullying like this to be ignored by school staff, or the rampant acceptance of really awful things as prideful points in our history.

My Grandpa was pretty rough with my Dad and his brothers (at least that’s the excuse Mom made for him when he’d beat the crap out of me). That cycle is broken with me and my kids. People need to try and do better than the generation that came before them.
