Resident Fossil & Rocks Guy

Forums:

I'm very knowledgeable about fossil sponges.

I well versed in geology.

Passable with minerals.

How can I help you today?

I'm curious about the transfer of manganese in skarn formations, specifically, diorite / porphyry contacts with limestone and other carboniferous rock (argillite)

Dinosaur bones were buried in the earth by Lucifer and his demons to confuse humans into believing the earth is more than 6000 years old.

Discuss.

st mark, i once had a guy seriously tell me that, to my face

i was in a 7th day adventist boarding school when i was around 15, and had been reading books about all the parallels between christ and other dieties that came thousands of years before(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_in_comparative_mythology), and was all exited to come to one of these guys and break down his fasade with all my awesome, newly acquired knowledge that almost everything in the christ story had been told thousands of years prior in various pagan myths.

he told me that satan manipulated events to be that way so that people would later find out about it and question christ.

i was SO defeated. it was like, months of reading, and crafting this argument, just deflated instantly by saying "it was satan".

it was then i learned there was no point arguing with fundamentalist christians, no matter what you say, no matter how many times you disprove them, they can just blame it all on satan.

For the record, I have about 34 mining claims in 3 states...  here's some of my diggings from the last few years

Me too. Actually it was a guy from work who I'd hung out with many times, and seemed like a reasonably intelligent and grounded dude. I also made the mistake of trying to have a rational discussion with him about it. Lesson learned.

Very cool pics, Noodler.

Sorry Druba... a little out of my league.  :)

Have to admit, my favorite pics from this last year are definitely the skunk under my bunk;

It's all shits and grins until it is book sourcing time every seven years.  Then the State Board of Ed. has to listen to these potato brains make their case for including Genesis in the science books.

Idiocracy is here.

Noodler- Nice!

Whitey-x- What do you got there?

Last time we went mining was when we had some down time between tours (early 90's).

Went to Hallelujah Junction and mined some pretty nice Smoky Quartz.

That Oregon Carnelian looks delicious!

So this is where you get your rocks off?
