LOCKN 2018

Forums:

Anybody have an idea about LOCKN 2018 dates? I need to put in my vacation time before December! Inquiring minds want to know!

Still nothing official

Think the weekend before labor day.

I'll ask my uber-innie friend and see what she thinks.

Not sure if this has been posted yet - but the powers that be announced Lockn' 2018 dates as August 23-28.

http://www.locknfestival.com/tickets

I guess I made Lockn' two days longer (but those are actually recovery days, so...maybe they should be included? lol)

The actual dates for 2018 are August 23-26.

Tickets on sale this Friday 11/24.

And so starts the "9 month term" with Shappy ... it's kind of feels like some sort of resuscitated feudal "arrangement" from a long bygone era; where people take an oath of loyalty to be lorded over for nearly a year prior to the "payout".

What time do the Lockn tickets go onsale 11/24?

After sunrise? lol

The website just says Tickets on sale 11/24 - no time is mentioned. Sorry.

Here's what the email says:

They should do this thing in late september or early october. Shappy is probably pleased with the water sales under sweltering conditions and refuses to change the date.

Lineup?

Cool, see the time- thanks!

hope all you guys are well- Happy Thanksgiving:)

I had Fun the one year attended.

Could be muggy / humid or even rainy;  however attendees have told me that they rearrange things every year to make it a bit better.

In general,  it is a well-run event.  A good opportunity to see more Bands in one place with not all that much effort.

And so starts the "9 month term" with Shappy ... it's kind of feels like some sort of resuscitated feudal "arrangement" from a long bygone era; where people take an oath of loyalty to be lorded over for nearly a year prior to the "payout".

Could you explain what you mean by the above? When did Shapiro become a feudal lord?

As an aside; why is a person who is primarily out of Shapiro's "kingdom" have such a hard on for the dude? Did he exercise some hippie version of  jus primae noctis with your virgin bride?

its because Shapiro won’t let him drink any water at shows

BTW I hope that DJEW (that’s an interesting acronym) sees this thread before he needs to put his vacation days in. After all, it’s really what this thread is all about, people.

There were plenty of 'Free Water Dispensers'  the year I attended.  Clean drinking water.

Food,  Beer,  and Wine were for sale inside the venue gates,  at reasonable prices.

It really was all pretty OK.  If I had a 'bitch & moan' topic,  that would be the paid Shower trucks with poor Water pressure.

However,  I've been told that they have repaired that aspect somewhat in the last couple years.

Hey Stu were you able to get that disc loaded?

The years I went they let us carry in gallon sealed water jugs in the venue area,

then I used same jugs with holes in the lid with their water for showering right @ our camp site.

Bump for DJEW

Thanks, Bucky. I got the dates and put in my vacation time.  smiley

Could you explain what you mean by the above? When did Shapiro become a feudal lord?<<<

Perhaps the particulars of my "metaphor" are a result of being in the midst of reading "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court".

If one day a "VIP Free" concert movement comes to fruition and splinters onto it's own pathway; becoming wildly successful in so far as replacing the extreme capitalistic driven paradigm that's currently taken hold of the market, then it would seem the current state of affairs is fair game in so far as pointing out just how "habituated/normalized" people have become to the state of affairs as being "the only way".   While it feudalism might not be an exactly overlay, there was a time when people thought "this is just how it is" and played the feudal game because it's the only game in town.

There's got to be another way, IMO.

Yes, let me make plans and spend my money on a "promise" of a "great" lineup.

rumors of the who & deadco

I enjoyed the lineup the year I went;  Allmans,  Tom Petty,  Winwood,  Taj Mahal,  a zillion others.  But I knew the lineup before purchasing a ticket.  Some nice lady on PZ sold me her early-bird ticket not long before the festival,  so all acts were known.

I'd go again if I like the lineup.  However,  the dogsitter aspect adds to the cost.  He would enjoy it there (good with crowds) but, not allowed.

Lineups have always been solid for this.

Lumni tickets all snapped up, sorry folks.

Nice glad you got the dates DJ

rumors of the who & deadco<<<

I wish you hadn't said that ... I really don't want to give another dime to Shappy if I can help it.

Went this year for 1st time. Layout was re-arranged from past and was great from my perspective. Others who had been in the past, also lauded the new layout.

Fresh drinking water was available in many locations and was more than plentiful.

Weather cooperated so there's that.....

Indeed, hard to lay out $$ so early (9-10 months pre-show) and without knowledge of line-up, but, we enjoyed it so much this year that we have faith in the setup and whatever the line-up will be. Also, saved pretty significant $$ via the early bird discount.

Generally speaking, all of these folks in the festy scene are competing for our entertainment dollars. We saw it last year with a bunch of December summer tour announcements (Dead & Co, Lockn, Peach, etc., etc.). This year, it's creeped into November!!!

While challenging, having so much music to choose from is, theoretically, a good problem to have!

really don't want to give another dime to Shappy if I can help it.

It's actually rather simple. Just refuse to do it and then stick to that.

75% of the way there to deciding to pass this year.

Only reasonable way for me to do it is for early entry and with multiple emails still no one knows.

At his point all these fest should really really be better organized.

Don't like the nonstop revolving stage at Lockn either.

>>>>>really don't want to give another dime to Shappy if I can help it.

I believe Shappy is only involved as a promoter currently and has sold his ownership stake, so there's that

>>>>>>early entry and with multiple emails still no one knows.

Early-Entry Wednesday, August 22 (Early-Entry valid for select VIP campers and GA RV campers only): 4 pm – 8 pm, you have not been selected.

Early entry Wednesday!

Anyone care to start a proper LOCKN 2018 Roll Call?!

initial lineup:

sci/phish/wsp/avett bros/grace potter/twiddle/rre

I’ll be there for Saturday

keeping my Lockn streak alive

A few single day tickets are almost half price on StubHub

I have not seen any info on webcasts from the festival this year.  I thought it was going to be couch tour weekend, maybe not.

I'll be out there Friday and Saturnday. Really interested in both late-nights, P-Funk, and a few others.

Yeah in the past they free streamed it

Still no word on a webcast... I would be pretty surprised...... they have webcast every other year... Dead and Co webcast every show of summer tour. At least it's on Sirius.... do they still do the streaming trial ? erks me already that I pay for radio.. (I couldn't believe the streaming package doesn't come with a subscription total BS)
