Black Friday

Forums:

Is today brick and mortar retail's last stand?

My local  "Agway"  has 20% off of everything in stock.  I'm going to refill all the empty Propane cylinders.  That should keep the oven running all Winter.

Ordered all my stuff online. Stores are for dirty peasants.

Biggest score this year was a J. Crew Ludlow suit in navy for $310 shipped. Absolutely insane deal. Also grabbed a Schott Perfecto (p571) and some Higgins Mill boots from Allen Edmonds.

For the child, a box of dirt. I may also let her rummage through the recycling as a special holiday activity, provided she doesn't cry. She needs to learn the value of a dollar.

i have not purchased or received a christmas gift for about 5 years. one of my more solid life decisions.

It's good to teach them early, Mark.

Agreed, Jen.

We're building the future, after all.

Post some links, I want in on the Black Friday>Cyber Monday deals smiley

I need a new queen sized bed - trying to make up my mind whether to head out into that hell-hole.

A good deal possibly awaits.

Still working this first cup of coffee.

Diogenes was eating lentils when a courtier saw him and said, "If only you would learn to flatter the prince, you wouldn't have to eat lentils." Diogenes looked at him and said, "If only you would learn to eat lentils, you wouldn't have to flatter the prince." #BuyNothingDay

((( Buy Nothing Day )))

It's sad that you don't support the workers who toil away in sweatshops so we can enjoy low, low prices on consumer goods.

Sometimes I find little tear drops on my consumer goods; which really connects me to the children who make them in unspeakable conditions across the Third World.

That's what makes Black Friday so special, to me.

i just bought a cup of artisanal coffee and 2 pastries. was $14.50....

Turtle gets it.

I bought some comic books - um, I mean graphic novels at fantagraphic online this morning. $20.60 with shipping.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy some beer from a local brewer today.

And Mark, you know the best gift for a sweat shop worker is a book on how to organize workers.

I went out and picked up the new, live Howard Wales and Jerry album. Then I came right home.

Indeed, Redneck.

I've bundled up a few dogeared copies of Das Kapital for our comrades in Taiwan.

What Judit said

I'm going to buy a ticket tonight when I go see Karl Denson, so I guess I'm not cool.

We'll let you slide, Lance! ;)

I took RRG’s advice about supporting local record stores. Spent some money at a spot in Redding.

I also got used copies of

Marshall Tucker Band - Where We All Belong

George Harrison - Extra Texture

Bob Dylan - Infidels

Floops - do they have Black Friday in France?

Wow, that's SOME sunset, 6. Nice shot.

Beautiful, 6 !!!

I bought a bunch of records today.

i bought 2 protein drinks (buy 1, get 1 free) and cat food (P. Newman's, 5 for 6 dollars).

i think i did pretty good.

I had to go to the brick and mortar route with all the peasants, but scored a Bryston sp3 pre pro at a great price to me :), Set it up over christmas my ears will be happy for 10 more years

Black Friday at my favorite local thrift store, 60% off already drastically reduced prices compared to retail. Find of the day was a nice Tumi laptop bag with a matching duffel.

My Black propane Friday experience went rather smoothly.  When I arrived,  I parked near the filling station (giant tank) and let the tailgate down.

Brought Hüsky in to pay for the fuel and enjoy the Feed store.  They carry all sorts of High-Quality pet food,  plus the usual farm supplies.  Also, the nice Ladies who work the retail counter have Free Treats for doggies,  and really good ones,  no lowly Milk-Bone stuff.  Hüsky knows this place as a Treat repository,  and works the counter,  performing his cute Doggy tricks for the Ladies.

Then I made a complimentary cup of Keurig - machine coffee,  which was just right.  By the time I got back to the truck,  the propane elves had already filled my empty tanks.  And the price was Right !! Normally 16 bucks for a 20 # mini-cylinder,  so 20 % off that worked out to 50-some bucks for 4 cylinders.

Let's say 13 per cylinder.  Leow's or Home Despot are closer to 20,  so it's a great deal laugh

Thanks Agway,  you made my Black Propane Friday experience a super fun time.
