Saw an old friend

Forums:

Dropped in Orlando last night at the beautiful Dr. Phillips Center of the Preforming Arts and saw my old friend Ian Anderson. At the fine age of 70 he is still fit and limber and has a pretty decent voice. He pranced, danced, strutted and moved like a man 20 plus years younger than him. He is still one of the best front man rock-n-roll has ever seen. He can still play the flute like a mother fucker too.

2 one hour sets with a 15 minute intermission.

The highlight for me was Farm on the freeway, it was well played and nice and extended version with swirly lights and even a little psychedelia mixed it. I think this was the 12th time seeing him and I loved the song selections he chose. It was not a smash hit easy lay concert but a pick from his very large catalog. I remember being 8 or 9 years old and listening to my 2 older brothers very large LP collection and they had a lot of Tull. The next time he rolls into town you can bet I will go see him again.

Go to the fuckin show

Glad to see he included some early stuff.

Cool. He sold out the Beacon when he came he NYC, and Martin Barre sold out the Boulton last month.

Opening with Living in the Past & Closing with Brick is nice!

Like Jerry said there is so much music in our universes to delve into, but so little time in a single day to enjoy (or master it, as Jerry did)

Great to hear Ian hasn't changed. I've never seen Tull, I definitely want to now more then ever.

I had been a fan and then a friend turned me onto their whole catalogue. Such a diverse but signature sound. Teacher will always remain in my permanent top 50 songs.

I don't want to be a fat man

really dont mind if you sit this one out....

just looked up my first Tull show 7-16-76 Colt Park Htfd...j geils opened...great show...first show any of us had ever seen w tv screens.... cpl faced front, cpl side stage!! they were pointed out to ppl that didnt have tix for show, but could sit in park and watch...it was only for JT, and was called Tullivision...

She wouldn't make love but she made a good sandwich

Saw them at an amusement park in the mid '80s, surprised to see some bikers there with their babes, wasn't expecting that devil

Around that time a greatest hits type album came out, Original Masters, I got it on cassette and loved it, it was a revelation!

I saw them in Hong Kong back in 94.  Wasn't that impressed.  Thought it was a bit too theatric.
