So good! I used to be a professional pumpkin carver for stores and private commissions, but never used props. I don't have any digital pics (it was before digital cameras). I wish I knew where any of the film prints are, I'd take pics of them to post. I love to carve.

Tapecat is also an excellent pumpkin carver.

"His carvings have even been displayed in the President's quarters at the White House."   No,Fark. That is the president.......

Guy is pretty damn good though. Like to see what he could do with just pumpkins. Adding media is cheating a little.

I don't get what you're saying about the President's quarters being the president, Mark. What do you mean?

This thread reminds me of one of those "Zoners post a pic of yourselves" threads.

Amazing carvings !!!

I've fooled with relief-carving in wood (Tikis) and wonder if the artist has some embalming technique to preserve his work.

Because fruit-flies, mold, decay affect Pumpkins faster than Logs.

Judit, he was implying that the hideousness of those carved faces, were good likenesses of our orange shitstain in cheif.

 Thanks, Cam.

Wow, that's some awesome work.

That is really sweet. Transient art that is going to rot no matter what. True dedication to the cause. Maybe refrigeration slows down the rot and allows more carving time?

Nice thread thnx

Nothing lasts.

The category of ephemeral art is one of my favorite things. Scarecrows, snow sculptures, sand sculptures, sand painting, carved pumpkins, sculpted fields, etc.; not just these things, but that they are beautiful and symbolic of the impermanence of life.

It's all ephemeral if you stand back far enough.

I'm short, Surfdead, I can't stand that far back and still see.
