Could they have received a first rounder earlier in the year? I dunno, maybe. But they were also able to have him on the roster through the bye week. That's 8 games of back-up QB insurance.
This pick will end up somewhere around the 30th slot - it's up there.
As a 49ers fan I like this fine. It didn't cost the 49ers THAT much, they had two 2nd round picks next year, but right now my main thought is that the best team in the league ultimately didn't think Garappolo was the answer to Who Comes After Brady.
I'm happy with the deal, what the hell, but I'm just a bit concerned that he'll be the 21st century Steve Bono/Elvis Gerbac... a decent QB on a great team, but not a champion.
I'm interested in hearing from those who know Garappolo better than I.
Oh, and...
GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Niners don't need to be saved all they need is time to erase the mistakes of the Trent Baalke era and the two idiotic head coach choices post-Harbaugh.
Don’t forget the retirements and arrests niners fans!!! And how do you plan on erasing the mistake that ended up with JED YORK as the owner? Gonna need a BIG eraser for that one.

Pats get 1st or 2nd pick in
Pats get 1st or 2nd pick in 2nd round of 2018 draft is almost like a 1ST round pick. Good trade for both teams.
Hoyer released to sign as pats backup QB. Hoyer makes to much money under current contract to be included in trade thus the release and sign

I bet Belichek has a list of guys he'd rather have than Brian Hoyer. Did the Pats have a practice squad QB, or anyone who was in camp this year?

So the pats traded Garoppolo
So the pats traded Garoppolo and got back a 2nd rounder and Brian Hoyer.
Why didn’t they trade Garoppolo in the summer for a first round pick, which I think was offered and keep Jacoby Brissett, who they recently dealt?
I’d rather have the first rounder and Brissett.
Or a second rounder and Kaepernick.
I normally don’t question the Pats but this one seems a little off.

No one trades !st round picks
No one trades !st round picks anymore since rookie salary cap instituted
Houston traded LT Brown (3 time pro bowler) for a 5th round pick and shitty corner. Pats got better value 32nd or 33rd pick in the 2018 draft
