2nd Set Bertha's.

Forums:

Certainly OK in my book.

pre or post drumz?

Phil & Bobby would never allow it now-a-days

Kind of like 2nd & last song of first set. Sets the tone for the evening.

Except when filming an episode of Nash Bridges lol

Pre or post. I feel like Bertha could have more effortlessly moved between both sets. Similar to Shakedown.

Not sure why I still have these thoughts 23 years after the band stopped playing. But I do.

Every song out of space at least once or STFU!

Except when filming an episode of Nash Bridges lol<<<

Ha. Forgot about that. Safe to say the only time Phil Lesh appeared on CBS Network TV.

Love Bertha opening first or second set.

2nd set Bertha opener at Englishtown 77 and W&M 78 are two I remember vividly.

Thom your god dam wrong.

Oh sorry wrong Thom.

Carry on.

Stalinist says what???????

Caught a great Jack Straw > Bertha 2nd set opener at Autzen '88. Noice.

My first show had

Space, Black Peter, Miracle, Bertha, Good Lovin. No Encore

Probably the only time I saw that. Would have liked to see Bertha in that spot more often

3rd set Berthas or STFU

>>Safe to say the only time Phil Lesh appeared on CBS Network TV

Harry Reasoner interviewed the band in 1967

Those late '70s Bertha>Good Lovin' 2nd set openers were fun.

My first show had one of those.

The Grateful Dead was real good back then.

Bertha-> Cumberland second set opener

Even with the miscues during the Bertha Jerry Solo, that is a real good one and I was happy to be taping that night!

>>>Phil & Bobby would never allow it now-a-days

I was at this one:

11/6/2015 Verizon Center, Washington, DC

I: Jam > Truckin > Big Boss Man > Truckin Jam > Brown-Eyed Women > West L.A. Fadeaway > Loser, Lost Sailor > Saint of Circumstance

II: Bertha > Eyes of the World > Scarlet Begonias > Fire on the Mountain > Drums > Space > The Wheel > Looks Like Rain > In the Midnight Hour

E: Touch of Grey

Long Beach 87 - 2nd set opener ...great version

Strange you should ask. I did a 2nd set Bertha yesterday.smiley

MSG '83 St Stephen show has a smokin Miracle>Bertha combo in the opening frame of set 2, listened to just last week

I was at 10/11/83 and have to be reminded about that one, thanks Hotnanny

Saratoga Springs, NY, 24 June 1984,  Second set opener I need a Miracle>Bertha.  Interestingly, Grateful Dead played these two songs (not back-to-back in every case) each of the four times they played Saratoga Springs.

This another good shoe that isn't noteworthy other than it's very well played and in the sweetest indoor venue the Dead played in the 80s
