Playing near out house but LATE on a Sunday night. Two openers, one is a local psych band that we love. Looking for some verification that "Nik Turner's Hawkwind" is worth getting excited about. I know Nik Turner played flute, which is not good. I guess there is another band member who has his own Hawkwind, hence the very specific naming here.

Go! The other guy's Hawkwind
Go! The other guy's Hawkwind has had visa issues, he's cancelled shows here
Nik is a really nice guy, try to find him hanging outside the venue. He'll take a pic with you, sign your autograph, no rock star attitude with that guy for sure
He maybe got 100 people one year in Richmond, small turnout. Made me wonder if it was really worth him doing it. He's not making much if any money.
Go man, the guy is a class act!!

Saw them twice in the last 3
Saw them twice in the last 3 years. First time had a German band with witchy women dancing and trippy light show. Last time, not so good. Some different musicians, no girls or light show. The bass player was hitting wrong notes and Nik wasn't as into it.

From what I can tell the
From what I can tell the (German) band playing right before Nik Turner is his backing band. It's only $15, so I figure that even if we don't dig it and split we will at least have gotten to see our local guys, who only play a couple shows a year. But man, a 3 band show starting at 9 pm on a Sunday, that's HARD for me these days!
