Anyone use pipe tobacco to roll their own cigs?

Forums:

I've been a semi regular Bugler smoker for years, but since Obama raised the tax on roll your own cigarette tobacco, it's really not that economical anymore. My friend uses Riverside, it's ok, but I find it cheap and generic tasting like their prerolled cigs.

Looking for a brand that's fairly cheap but not bottom of the barrel, any suggestions?

Well, since you made it political, just remember:

You have tax-and-spend Democrats or borrow-and-spend Republicans.

>>>>>>any suggestions?

Quit tobacco.  Smoke weed all day.

I've been doing the European thing. Mixing tobacco with weed. Don't knock it til you try it, those guys have the right idea! angel

Ugh.  Years ago, we had a friend stay with us for a while and she did the same thing.  Seems like a quick way to get hooked on nicotine.

That being said, I know a guy who only smokes blunts.  I have been giving him a lot of the trim from this years ongoing harvest and he rolls it up in cigar casings, which I understand are made of tobacco leaves.  Those blunts will get you fucked up.

I've been smoking some trim rolled into joints from San Jose, California, it's trim from OG Kush plants, know what I'm talking about? Leafy trim, maybe a bit too much plant material being inhaled, but it definitely does the job smiley

You're worried about cost, yet you smoke tobacco?

Hope you have a fund set up for your cancer treatments.

bugler is about as cheap as it gets, and totally disgusting to boot.

i smoke peter stokkebye amsterdam shag. its a fine cut, rich and moist european halfzware shag. when you smell a fresh bag it smells like rasins, caramel, and oak. each pouch, after tax is $10-$15 and is 35g of tobacco, bugler is just shy of 20g per pouch...so almost 2x the tobacco per pouch.

most pipe tobacco will be pretty bad in a cigarette. pipe tobacco is thicker cut, and designed to burn slower.

peter stokkebye sells its tobacco in large tins, if you shop around they can be had pretty cheap...under $40 sometimes for 5 pouches worth of tobacco.

another option is buying online, it is usually much cheaper. here is a link for some fantastic halfzware called Golden Virginia;

http://www.smokers-mall.com/tobacco/golden-virginia.aspx

Golden Virginia is not available in the states, all of my pouches have come from spain or the UK, but you can order it online. it's $51 for 5x 50g pouches.

comes out to about $10 per pouch, which does not seem cheap, but each pouch of bugler is only about 20g of tobacco, meaning each $10 pouch of golden virginia is equal to 2.5 pouches of bugler...and it is incredible, top of the line RYO tobacco...not cheap garbage like bugler or some hodge-podged pipe tobacco.

from that site, i have also had or heard good things about samson, amber leaf, old holborn, and drum. they are all much, much nicer than bugler.

another good way to save money *and* get better quality cigs is to buy the 300 packs for Raw brand rolling papers. at about $5 for 300 papers, its much cheaper than even cheap gas station papers that come in packs of 32-50 papers, and the flavor is much, much better.

 I can vouch for Samson.

Quitting is even cheaper, and it tastes better.

Is this still available?

Wow, thanks for the info, daylight! I've checked online and they really get you with the shipping. Here's some pics from inside a local shop, I'm actually looking for something more similar to these, I'm not looking for a gourmet brand, lol

Not that hard to grow your own tobacco.

All the time. Then I chug a bottle of mouthwash to catch a quick buzz.

Bum Life

Buy your rolling tobacco on the reservations. Duh.

Quit.

i have been to a shop like that at an indian casino in oroville...seconding the recommendation to find somewhere to buy on indian land.

if youve never had this kind of tobacco, try a pouch of peter stokkebye amsterdam shag before you decide to go for the bulk stuff.

also, you can buy whole tobacco leaves and cut them yourself. you can get a pound(454g) of leaf for around the same price as 2x 20g pouches of bugler. although i cant speak to the quality, my hopes are high. you will have to buy a tobacco shredder, but over time, with the raw tobacco costing about 10x less than tobacco by the pouch, it should pay for itself. not sure how much the giant bags of bugler go for so idk what the price comparison is there.

So did you smoke a pipe tobacco and reefer roll your own cigarette?

Had to be an effort. Quite interesting.

Hell Yeah!!! cool

My wife uses Criss Cross pipe tobacco which she has switched to from Marlboro some years back. She saves loads of money this way.

Cigarettes are very bad for you, but you asked.

My store has Criss Cross brand, it's the one all the way to the left on the top shelf on the second pic. Think that would be a good one to try?
