The theater above my shop had Seun Kuti on Tuesday night and Feist last night and tonight. I worked in my shop instead of attending either, but didn't notice any enhanced security measures outside. That already happened after the Bataclan incident, when having a couple of armed officers present outside during the shows became part of the protocol. It's a little unnerving that the venue sits catecornered from a high rise hotel.
I saw yesterday that this weekend's Austin City Lomits Festival is advertising that there will be a heavy police presence. They are also offering full refunds to concert goers too skittish to attend, which is pretty stand up on their part.
I saw Coldplay last night at Levi's Stadium and didn't notice any differences.
I was at Imagine Dragons at Shoreline on Tuesday and there weren't any significant changes, but apparently they did have some police spotters on the hill above the venue.
Hudson was very good if you like avant gard jazz. Scofield on guitar took the band in some pretty strange places, they played Hedrix's Castles In The Sand and Joni Mitchell's Woodstock, thought they were barely recognizable. But that is not an insult, just explaining their style of playing. I liked Medeski the best, his solos really went somewhere. He played piano, organ, and the Hammond B3. Stand-up bass and drummer very talented, drummer's vocals were horrible, though he rarely sang. Glad I saw them, don't know if I'd go see them again, but the audience was very appreciative and enthusiastic.
Although I didn't attend the show last night, I was around the Walter Kerr Theater in NYC where the Springsteen On Broadway show is. The theater set up TSA style full body scanners half way around the block that probably kept anyone carrying weapons/explosives to be at a distance away the theater entrance. At the corner turning to the front of the theater, they had a group of 5 very security professional looking with loose fitting suit jackets that had noticeable buldges underneath indicative of shoulder holsters. There was also a team of security people just inside the front doors who were eyeing up everyone who came in the door.
no but im hittin a show tonite and an outdoor fest on sunday. dont think there will be any xtra security @ either. just need to be aware of your surroundings. hope eveyone has a grate weekend!
festy experience festival last night - super lax security but it was the first night, it's a small family festival and it's in the middle of the mountains.
I saw Hard Working Americans last night. Pretty chill going in. Coming out was a little different, apparently there was a shooting on Euclid ave (road in front of venue), there were a bunch of cops out canvasing the area looking for something. We had no issue getting to the car and leaving. I still have not found anything online about this from last night. Probably just another non news event in Atlanta?
I imagine that the bigger the show, the larger increase in security. Unfortunately in either a deluded thought of becoming famous or to terrorize, the bigger the better.
I went to see DSO @ House of Blues in downtown Cleveland, OH Fri, 10/5. The Indians Yankees game was also being played 4 blocks away. Security was heavy on E. 4th St. outside of HOB, I saw 6 cops close to one corner near E. 4th St. & Euclid Ave. Security was also visibly heavier inside HOB too during the show.
We dinner with Dino & The Team Us crew for the 6th year in a row before the show @ HOB.
DSO melted faces as usual in Cleveland playing 12/13/90 McNichols Arena, Denver, CO. DSO is red hot again now on this tour!
Set One: Jack Straw > Sugaree ; Wang Dang Doodle ; Friend Of The Devil ; Me And My Uncle > Big River ; Ramble On Rose ; Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again ; Valley Road - DSO jammed my face off on this Valley Road! BARRACO!
Set Two: Help On The Way > Slipknot! > Franklin's Tower ; Saint Of Circumstance ; Eyes Of The World > Drums > Space > The Other One > Morning Dew ; Box Of Rain
Encore U.S. Blues
Filler: Strange Man - Lisa came out & crushed this jam! WOW!
