Freddie (78 year old lap steel player) was attacked & found in bushes in Oakland on the 30th. He is currently in Alta Bates Hospital.
I saw him play on Sept. 22nd with Harvey Mandel et al @ The Empress in Vallejo. I was with HeyDavey & Lori & after the set Freddie came & hung with us.

Just saw this FB post from Thursday, 10/5:
Freddie was discharged Wednesday from Alta Bates in Oakland and transferred to Vale HealthCare in San Pablo, CA, where he will stay for now. Freddie’s car is still missing, along with his lap steel guitar and amplifier which were presumed to be in the car. Freddie cannot remember what happened. Freddie is getting the care he needs.
